Competition Instructions
Individual or Partner Fall Competition | One Entry Per Chapter Level |
Objective: Create an infographic about a topic that interests or is important to you.
Learning Targets:
- The student will improve their understanding of visual hierarchy by organizing information effectively in the infographic.
- Creating the infographic will enhance their skills in using colors, fonts, and images to convey messages clearly.
- They will learn the importance of simplifying complex data and concepts for better audience engagement.
- Designing the infographic will provide practice in aligning elements and creating a visually appealing layout.
Final Product Guidelines:
- Created in Canva, Adobe or a similar desktop publishing software.
- Must be saved as .jpg or PDF file.
- Infographic should:
- have a title & a clear main topic
- contain at least 5 topic-specific content facts/statistics (must be accurate and cited).
- include at a minimum 3 graphic data charts (must be accurate and cited)
- include relevant images and graphics that support the main idea
- make excellent use of color, shape, size and arrangements of all elements
- have perfect grammar and mechanics.
- use text sparingly and with clear thought for purpose/necessity
- include any other artistic elements student wants to add for creativity

Scoring Rubric
Student should self-assess their work using the following scoring rubric before submission.
Failure to meet all rubric requirements will result in loss of points.

Please note: The point values listed in each category represent the maximum possible points that can be earned. However, fewer points may be awarded based on the quality or completeness of the work. Meeting the basic requirements of a criteria does not guarantee full points; higher scores are awarded for more fully addressing the criteria and demonstrating higher quality of work.
