The Units might not match up exactly, but the chapters and page numbers in this online book and in our textbook are the same.

Course Description:  The high school United States history course provides students with a survey of major events and themes in United States history.  The course begins with English settlement and concludes with significant developments in the early 21st Century.  The course follows the Social Studies Georgia Standards of Excellence.

Classroom Expectations 

  1. Come prepared to class each day, on time, with supplies and a positive attitude. Appropriate classroom behavior and active participation is expected.
  2. Make-up policy:  All assignments are posted in Google Classroom.  Students must complete classwork up to date upon return, regardless of absences.  Other assignments such as quizzes, tests, etc. must be made up within a reasonable timeframe of an absence.  It is the student’s responsibility to find out about missing work and make arrangements to stay after school for the make-up assignment.
  3. Assignments are expected to be complete on their due date regardless of absences.  Daily assignments and due dates are posted in the room, and in Google Classroom.
  4. Cell phones must be turned off for the duration of the period.
  5. Students must follow all rules listed in the Bryan County School Handbook.

Grade Weights

56% Summative- tests and projects

24% Formative- quizzes and other daily assignments

*End of Course Milestone Test is 20% of semester average        

Exam Exemption

Students must meet the exam exemption criteria in order to exempt the final exam.  You may not exempt the EOC.

Tutoring Hours

I am available most days before or after school.  Students must make arrangements ahead of time.

Discipline

All students are expected to follow the rules set forth in the student handbook.  

Academic Honesty

Students who participate in academic dishonesty will be referred to the appropriate administrator and will receive a zero on an assignment until an alternative assignment is completed.  Students have 3 days to complete the alternate assignment.
