2022 Rams Season Updates:

New Volunteer Policy

Every season we ask each family to volunteer 16 hours. This season only 22% of the non-coaching staff completed their volunteer hours. For this reason we will be implementing a new procedure. Beginning with registration for the 2022 season, all families that did not fulfill their volunteer requirement during the 2021 season will be assessed a $100 fee at the time of registration, in addition to their registration fee. If your family completed your hours this season, then the fee will be waived for the 2022 season.

The way this will work is that a check will be written out to the Organization or credit card form will be completed and turned in AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. The Organization will hold that check or credit card form (not processing it) until the end of the season. If the hours are completed, the check or form will be given back to you. If the hours are not completed by the end of the season (the final regular season game), the payment will be processed.

Please note; any returned checks will be subject to the return check policy. See Registration for details regarding that. Any credit card payment that is declined must be paid in full in order to return to the Organization the following seasons.

If you have any questions about this new policy, please feel free to contact anyone on the Executive board.

Parent T-shirts orders update

Our parent shirt order ended up being nearly 900 pieces, which was over double what our orders in the past have been. Due to the personalization of each piece, the order took longer in production than we were originally quoted. All of the times did ship last week and were set to arrive Oct 6. We received 2 of the 4 boxes. The other 2 were held up and are neomg re-routed to us. DHL will not give us a definitive arrival date for them. They said they can arrive at any point. The second we receive the remaining boxes, they will be sorted and distributed.

We want nothing more than to get the items to you all but this part of the process is beyond our control. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we do everything in our power to get them to you as soon as we possibly can.

PRACTICE/GAME-DAY CONCERNS

- Do not drop kids off at the front gate. Please park and walk with the children to the front gate. This is for safety issues and to ensure the continuous flow of traffic.

- Do not park or sit idle out front near the front gates. It impedes the flow of traffic and has been known to cause significant delays. This is a no-parking area and cars have been towed when parked there.

- Rams field is our home. Let's all do our part to help keep the park clean. Please pick up any empty water bottles or other wrappings for snacks that you may have brought with you. It would also be very helpful to pick up any other trash that's near you.

- All football players, cheerleaders and parents must enter through the front gate. Back gate entrance is for Rams board members and league officials only.  No entry is allowed off of Miller Road or near the elementary school for traffic, safety, and Covid-19 concerns.

We ask that during this 30-minute delay, all athletes and coaches vacate the field immediately and wait in their cars or under surrounding coverings so that practice/game can resume after the delay has ended with no additional lightning strikes. If the delay ends, is extended or practice is cancelled, the Rams will notify parents via the team’s GroupMe app.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY COVID-19 PROCEDURES

As the Rams practice at Hillsborough County fields, we are required to follow the current Hillsborough County recreation and parks’ Covid-19 procedures.

If a person has participated in a recent practice/game and is positive for Covid-19 or is exposed to a Covid-19 positive person, then in order for that that person and team to participate in future practices/games they must do 1 of the following:

  1. Show proof of vaccination (email president@valricorams.org and athleticdirector@valricorams.org)
  2. Show a current COVID negative test  (email president@valricorams.org and athleticdirector@valricorams.org)
  3. 10-day quarantine

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Rams have sponsorship opportunities to community businesses or members who would like to support the Rams program and its families. We have different levels of sponsorship and it includes publicity at the field, during home games, and on the Rams website. If interested, e-mail sponsorship@valricorams.org or submit the attached Contribution form to Rams fundraising.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE  | FIRST DAYS OF PRACTICE  | FAQ

Hello Rams family,

The Fall football and cheerleading season begins Monday, August. 2. Read below to learn more information about first days of practices and other important information.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Monday, August 2, 5:30 - 7pm

All payments and the registration packet must be completely submitted by August 2 in order to practice and ensure your child’s spot on the fall team. Your child will not be able to practice with the team until all registration requirements are met. If your child’s team has a wait list, you will be moved to the wait list and not be allowed to practice in order to free up a spot until your registration submission is complete.

FIRST DAYS OF PRACTICE

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What is the practice schedule?

Football teams will practice Monday through Friday until August 20. The following weeks, football will practice 3 days a week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. All practice hours are 6:30-8:30pm.

Cheerleaders will practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday throughout the season. All practice hours are 6:30-8:30pm.

  1. What should my player/cheerleader bring to practice?

All children should bring enough water to last their practice sessions. Football players should wear comfortable workout clothes the first few days of practice and will transition to practice pads and practice jersey (which you can purchase at any athletic store or at our Fundraising building during practices). They should also wear their helmets and football cleats to each practice and bring a mouthpiece. We strongly recommend getting these supplies as early as possible because a lot of places sell out of sizes quickly.

Cheerleaders should also wear shorts or leggings, tees or tanks and cheer shoes. NO MIDRIFFS SHOWING.

  1. Where do parents park?

Parents and family members must park at the field in the allotted grass parking at the south end of the park (to the right of the basketball/volleyball areas). Parents should NOT drop off children at the gate as it is a safety hazard and it causes a severe backup of traffic to and from the parking areas. Parents should park in the grass parking at the south end of the field and walk their child into the gate.  If parents park in the roundabout or in the school parking lot during event nights, they risk getting towed by the county.

  1. What can parents do during practice?

The Rams strongly recommend all parents remain on site during practices. Parents can bring their chairs or sit in the stands and outside the gate of the practice fields to watch practice. Parents are not allowed inside the gate of the practice fields or inside the designated cheerleader practice area. This is to not impede practices or distract the players/cheerleaders, and coaches. It is also a safety hazard. Parents can also use practice time to complete their required volunteer hours. Sign up information will be forthcoming.

  1. What if my child misses practice or is late?

Pop Warner requires all players and cheerleaders to go through 10 hours of conditioning first to begin the practice season. Missing or arriving late would require your child to be separated from their team and be behind schedule and could impact their success at practice. We don’t want anyone falling behind.

  1. When is the next equipment handout? My child missed the July equipment handout, when is the next one?

During the first week of practice, coaches will bring up players who don’t have the issued helmets and shoulder pads to the fieldhouse to get sized and received equipment. Equipment will only be provided to players who have submitted the required registration payment and documents.

  1. What is the game schedule?

The pre-season jamboree game is scheduled for August 21 at Plant City Dolphins field. The game times and report times have not been announced yet. The regular season schedule has not been released yet, but all Pop Warner games are on Saturdays.

  1. How can parents stay informed about season updates?

For general information and updates, visit the Rams website (valricorams.org), the updates page at bit.ly/ramsupdates or the Valrico Rams’ Facebook page. In addition, the Rams send out emails with weekly updates to those families who registered for the Fall season on the Rams website. For more immediate information, the Rams and their coaches will communicate with parents through the GroupMe app, which is free to download on any mobile device. To get connected to your child’s team GroupMe, visit the fieldhouse or communicate with the coach after practice.

RAMS’ LIGHTNING DELAY POLICY

To follow most outdoor youth sports safety policies, the Rams will suspend practice/games for 30 minutes if a lightning strike occurs within 2 miles of the field.

April 30

Hello Rams family!!! Here’s information you need to know for this week.

RAMS HOME GAME!!! TOMORROW  (APRIL 31)

707 South Miller Road, Valrico 33594

The Rams will host the Westchase Colts on Saturday with games from 9 a.m. until approximately 6:30pm. It is very important that players arrive dressed in their uniforms 2 hours prior to their game time (cheerleaders 1 hour prior). This is because each player will need to go through Pop Warner certification 90 minutes before game time and complete warm-ups with their teams prior to game start. Due to Covid-19 precautions, players and cheerleaders must provide their own water and halftime snacks.

Volunteers: Because we are hosting the game at our home field, we need a slew of volunteers to help the day run smoothly and efficiently. To volunteer, sign up at https://signup.com/go/NRwVeMY.
