Before we start the predictions, I want to take a moment and talk about the longevity and success of this league. 16 years ago, I was a 21 year old kid with an idea to create an online madden league, but really had no idea how it worked. With the help of Dolan (Lhu27) we created the MOF. We had some bumps and bruises in our first few seasons, but 51 seasons later here we are. One of the most prestigious leagues out there. As we enter our 52nd season, a number that not many leagues have seen, I want to thank every single one of you for making this league what it is. I say this all the time, but this is a wonderful hobby for all of us. Something to get our minds off the everyday grind and have a place to escape for a few hours a week. I take pride and pleasure in providing that for you guys, so again, thank you for making the MOF great!
Welcome to the Season 52 Predictions! Season 51 saw a familiar face hoist up the MOF “Dan Dolan” Trophy as Coach NYRedskins35, better known as Coach Betts, defeated Coach MackDaddy and the Browns 28-17 to take home the trophy. This was Betts’ 5th MOF title, which is incredible. As we enter Season 52, we have seen some turnover as the Hicks brothers are out and Kali and Roclo are back! We will see Roclo come back and win another title? Can Betts repeat? All this and more will be answered in the article below.
*Remember all these predictions are very in depth. We go game by game with the current schedule and predict games 1 by 1 and that's how we come up with our algorithms. Remember this is all in good fun and for some, some bulletin board material! Enjoy*
The AFC East was a surprising one last season as we saw a new coach start to take the next step to greatness in Coach WickedMe. The Dolphins won the division even after they were predicted to go 4-12. They showed the powers that be that they are a formidable team to be reckoned with. I believe the Jets will be better and will compete for the division. I had the Jets winning this division at first, but after the sanctions that were brought down on Coach Alex, I think that will really hurt their chances and they will finish in 2nd. The Patriots are getting closer to losing Tom Brady so I think that reality is starting to set in, I still think Krayzie is a season away from really competing. The Bills are one of the more interesting teams in the division, they could rattle off 4, 5 straight wins and come out on top. Or they could easily lose 8 in a row. They are inconsistent and that’s why we have them in the basement.
The AFC North was won in a landslide last season with MackDaddy going 13-3 and the next best team being 6-10. I don’t see much changing here this season. MackDaddy is bigger and better than everyone in this division by a wide margin and it would take something catastrophic for them not to win back to back. I expect the Browns to win 13-14 games and be the #1 seed in the AFC. I think losing 3 Super Bowls is definitely digging at him as he tries to win the big one. The Bengals by default will be in 2nd place, but I don’t expect much from them. They did just trade for Sterling Shepard which is a great move, but still not enough. The Ravens have Lamar Jackson and he alone can win them some games as we saw last season, but I think the rest of the league has caught up on how to stop the RPO and speedy QBs so I do not expect too much out of the Ravens this season. Coach Duckfat is back with the Steelers after finishing the season for them 1-6. I don’t think he will have much success yet, he still needs to get his bearings and get used to this league again.
The AFC South has been shaken up. Coach WeezyFalls won this division last season going away at 13-3 but he has been removed for conduct detrimental to the league. So that leaves the division open! The Jaguars I believe will walk through that open door and have a nice comeback season. I expect Dre to learn from his Season 51 mistakes and take advantage of a Weezy-less Titans team who is now coached by former champion Mr Roclo. So I really don’t think the Titans will be losing much coaching talent as Roclo is one of the all-time greats here in the MOF. I think this division will come down to those head to head games between the Jaguars and Titans. Don’t count out the Texans and Coach Mindenplaya who always seems to find his way into the postseason, quietly. I think he is just a step behind Dre and Roclo this season but will still absolutely battle for a wild-card berth. The Colts had a tough season going 2-14 in Season 51 and I don’t expect much different from SoSickin432. I think maybe it's time to think about trading Andrew Luck and stockpiling picks.
We saw a pleasant surprise last season in the AFC West as Coach Texmexgalvan (Aka Eddie) brought the Chargers to an 11-5 record and a division title. We saw Melvin Gordon rush for a ton of yards and cement himself in having one of the greatest seasons in MOF history for a RB. This season will be a little different. Now that Pettigrew has a season under his belt in Denver, I think it’s time that he pushes away a little bit. The talent of Pettigrew is unmatched in this division and that’s why i think he will win it. Von Miller had himself the 2nd most sacks in a season in MOF history and I expect the same dominance this season. The aforementioned Chargers i think will battle for a wild-card berth, and battle for 2nd place with the Raiders. I expect Gordon to have another great season, but if he happens to go down so will Eddie. Coach Bengalsonly7 has resurrected his MOF career in the last few seasons. He’s gone from a bottom dweller to a perennial playoff contender. He fell short last season at 9-7 and unfortunately I think he will fall short again, but that rookie QB Kris Sheldon will be right on track next season for a big year. The Chiefs lost their coach in the middle of last season and we still haven’t heard from him, but enter Coach DMcSchlabb78. He only played 2 games last season, but lost both. So I don't have high expectations for the rookie coach.
This is one of, if not, the best division in the MOF. You have Coach Betts returning as the champion and Derrius Guice who scored 32 touchdowns last season, ready and primed to have another huge season. The Redskins should win this division, but it won’t be easy. The Giants I expect to have a very big season, I think they will be one of the most improved teams with their new QB Tyree Jackson. Coach DoubleD was very high on Jackson and that’s why they traded for him. They drafted Dillon Randall as well who will be a threat. The Eagles will also be right there. CoachQKP35 won 9 games last season and just missed out on a wild-card because of tie-breakers so he looks to turn things around this season and they just traded for Tarik Cohen, as they try to find that running game. The Dallas Cowboys were disappointing last season but when you are in a division with these monsters, it’s kind of hard to do anything. I can see the Cowboys winning some games, with that offense, but i don't think they can sustain any kind of long term success.
The Packers and Vikings had themselves a fight last season for this division and I don't think much changes again. The Packers lost the division and went 13-3 but they got the last laugh as they knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs last season. Aaron Rodgers has consistently been the best QB in this league for about 10 seasons now all under Coach Dolan. I expect nothing less than excellence from him. The Vikings and that defense return and I think he will still cause fits for everyone. I expect both teams to be in the playoffs, they will battle for that division. The Lions and Bears will be on the outside looking in, once again, but we’re hoping they can both improve this season.
The South lost Coach Bhicks to conduct detrimental to the league and Coach Kalikarpenter has made his return. That is a big step back in talent, so I expect this division to be up for grabs. Enter, the Atlanta Falcons. Last season saw Coach BigReg’s reign atop the South end as he finished 9-7 and 5 GB of the division. I think things change this season and we see Reg back on top where he belongs. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, etc. They have a ton of weapons and I expect them to put up points. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jfon had a tough season going 5-11 but I expect things to change this season. I think with the loss of Hicks that opens things up for him and he will battle for the division and wild-card spot. The Saints are still a great team and I expect Kali to compete but I think he will fall short of the division and wild-card because the NFC is just loaded. Coach Dpanther went 4-12 last season after starting 2-0. I really think he could win more games and I think they will but they’ll fall short once again.
Interesting take on this division this season. We think the Rams and Commish Jeff are ready to break out. The Rams had some tough breaks in Season 51 that saw them lost a bunch of close games. Even though they are without Gurley for the first 8 games or so, i still think they have enough to compete for the division. The 49ers are coming back and ready to win back-to-back NFC West titles, we think the Rams are the only team that is really in their way. I expect them to compete for a wild-card and obviously the division, but only 1 team is going to be coming out of the west for the playoffs. The Cardinals and Coach Trig had himself a nice season 51 getting to the playoffs, but I think that will turn around this season as Kyler Murray is a fumbling machine. The Seahawks have Bobby Wagner, and he won some games for Hova last season all by himself. It won't be enough to compete this season.
