"TUNIC items" – item description, Kate Gray

The following item descriptions are using the game TUNIC as an example. TUNIC is a game about a tiny hero in a world he doesn't know or understand, with themes of mystery, discovery, and ancient, destructive technology. The manual's translations are a mixture of grandiose mystique and goofy humour, and not all descriptions are designed to help or inform the player – especially as translation is not required or expected.

Sword: A hero's greatest companion. Will you be the one to wield it?

Fruits: Restores HP and MP, keeps doctors away.

Stick: A hero's first companion. Presumably from a legendary tree.

Hot Pepper / Ivy: Wild plants with restorative abilities that will allow you to fight on.

Shield: Protect your soft and squishy body with this shield.

Effigy: Contains riches, requires heartbreak. Repeated heartbreak makes you stronger. And richer.

Ice Bomb: Distilled water from the summit of the snow-capped mountain. Do not consume.

Lure: Use this you-shaped doll as a decoy to distract near-sighted foes.

Explosion Bomb: Do not let its cheerful stripes fool you. Duck for cover.

Golden Coin: Consider this a token of desire. Wishes do not come free.

Fire Bomb: Use with caution. See a doctor if you are allergic to fire.

Magic Potion: A delicious concoction that restores your HP and tastes like strawberries.

Keys: Opens locks, then disappears. That's what keys do!

Magic Items: A mystery to everyone. Try them out for yourself...
