6.0        Reports

        6.1        Business

Robin reported on payroll. TCOE is using Burnt Ranch as the first school district in the county to implement a digital timecard system. The system isn’t ready to use yet; April Angelone at TCOE is still helping with the coding. The CARR fire and subsequent power outages slowed down what the county office was able to accomplish over the summer.

        6.2        Building Project

Kevin reported, via Charis’s phone.; Kevin is in Hayfork.. He reported the building project is on line to finish as scheduled. The gym/kitchen are top priority and should be finished by January 2019. The winter break should provide a little extra time to ensure they are finished by January 7th, 2019 when students return for classes. The closure of 299 (CARR Fire) set the whole project back by at least one week, possibly longer. Kevin is reviewing the building plans to find areas to save money. He reported that we can eliminate one handicap ramp on the Northwest corner entrance to the gym and stay in code compliance. Removing the ramp and railings and adding stairs for the 12” variance instead, will save the district money. Kevin reported that it was not mandated to have four ADA entryways. Kathleen helped clarify which section by using the whiteboard as a drawing tool. Kevin reported that they are using planters to build up walkways as another way to save money and stay in code compliance.

        6.3        Superintendent

Kathleen reported that more resumes and job inquiries have come in over the week. She also reported that yesterday’s Teachers’ Meeting went well and everyone seems positive and happy for the new school year. The whole school staff meeting is scheduled for tomorrow. First day of school is August 21, 2018. We currently have 86 kids enrolled; an increase from 80. September 6th is Back-to-School night and hopefully there will be a fundraiser dinner to encourage more attendance. Last year, we had poor attendance due to the smoke from the Junction City fire.

        6.4        Staff.

Kristi Kilgore will assist superintendent (Kathleen Graham) with board minutes.
