The final tip of this series is to offer your child choices. We usually know what our children want, but to help our children to communicate, we need to give them opportunities. When it is time to eat, give them a choice between two things. When they want to play, also offer them a choice between two. Encourage your child to use their words or body to communicate what they want. Praise their requests!
Today’s tip is to sabotage your child’s play and create communication temptations. You can find out more information about this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSAxjq_6mQA
Our second tip for the week is to be at your child’s level and hold objects near your face to encourage eye contact. This video will tell you more about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amu-k_CaN84
Our first tip is: OWL - Observe, Wait and Listen
You should observe - watch what your child is doing, wait to see what they do and listen carefully before trying to join in. This video shows you just how to OWL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mmjQJ9eg5I
