To get access to canvas as a parent, you will need to get access to your student’s access code, there are instructions in this document to get an access code from your student.

Purpose

What will a parent account allow you to do in Canvas?

  1. You can observe your student’s classwork on digital assignments
  2. Access the Canvas Gradebook
  3. Monitor your students’ progress in multiple classes

To complete work, students must log in with their student account. Parents cannot submit assignments using the Parent version of Canvas.

Get Student Observer Code

  1. Have student login to Canvas
  2. Go to Account
  3. Settings

  1. Pair With Observer

  1. Write down the code shown: _________________ (DO NOT SHARE with others).

Note: Pairing codes are case sensitive.

Repeat steps if you have multiple students.

Create your Parent Account

  1. Go to district140.org
  2. Under “Parents” → Click Canvas - Parent Login

  1. If you haven’t already created an account, click the “Parent of a Canvas User?” llnk

  1. Follow the prompts to create your account.

You can begin observing your student in Canvas immediately.
