May 30, 2020 - WSA 2020 Summer Sailing Program Announcement
Dear WSA families,
It is with deep regret that we have made the difficult decision to not hold sailing lessons this summer. We understand this is a big disappointment and an inconvenience to many. Be assured we did not come to this decision lightly. As more information and regulations surrounding Youth Sports and Summer Camps has continued to be made available by the state, and the practical limitations of an on the water program, the board felt that there was no choice but to cancel the 2020 program due to Covid-19. Refunds will be sent as soon as possible to those impacted.
For any Opti and 420 Racers, you may want to continue to monitor the NBYA Junior website for announcements for any regatta information at www.nbya.org/juniors. Since we are not running a program this summer you may want to continue your US Sailing membership by renewing or joining directly from their website. All previous WSA racers are members of US Sailing into the month of July. For a reduced price, you can keep your membership current and register under Wickford Sailing Association’s MVP at the following link:
Thank you for your continued support of Wickford Sailing Association and your patience as we continue to work through these uncertain times. As we begin in earnest to plan for the Summer of 2021 we will be preparing a survey to assess the program as a whole, but at anytime please feel free to send us feedback.

Dear WSA families,
It is difficult to think that we are in a position that we have to make a determination based on rapidly changing and incomplete information. However, with the start dates for our summer sailing program fast approaching, and based on current and forecasted state guidelines, we have made the difficult decision to not hold Beginner or Adult sailing lessons this summer. We understand this is a big disappointment and an inconvenience to many. Be assured we did not come to this decision lightly. Refunds will be sent as soon as possible to those impacted.
We are still hopeful that after learning about summer camp restrictions this coming week, that we will be able to hold other classes. There will however be a delayed start of July 6th and running for 6 weeks instead of the normal 8 week program.
Also note, that both Orientation sessions scheduled for June 16 and 18 are cancelled. Information will be distributed as any class starts near.
Thank you for your continued support of Wickford Sailing Association and your patience as we work through these uncertain times.

Program Update: April 29, 2020
The WSA has always operated our summer sailing program with safety as the highest priority. That includes the safety of our students, their families, instructors and members of the Wickford Yacht Club. Based on this fact, the status of our 2020 sailing program is being reviewed by the Wickford Sailing Association Board of Directors considering state regulations and local conditions. We will have an official statement for the summer program in May.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this uncertain time and, of course, stay safe.
Paul Nannig, President, Wickford Sailing Association
