WE ARE FOR MENSTRUAL EQUITY

EqualityPeriod.NJ emphasizes that menstruation is a natural bodily function. There should be no shame or stigma attached to periods or the methods utilized to take care of one’s needs. Safe, quality period products should be made available and accessible in a non-stigmatizing manner to ALL menstruating individuals in New Jersey.

Menstrual products are a necessity, not luxury. If toilet paper, soap, and paper towels are provided free of charge in bathrooms, why aren’t menstrual products? Take action to pass  A1349 to provide free menstrual products in NJ public schools.

While the ability to access menstrual products primarily affects students in low income communities, the study found that students across all demographic groups reported a lack of access to menstrual products. https://www.shethinx.com/blogs/thinx-piece/state-of-the-period-2021 #MenstrualEquity

16 states have passed laws providing free period products in schools and 12 took action in 2021 alone. Why is NJ behind? It’s time for New Jersey to step up and pass A1349. It’s time for #EqualityPeriod  @NJSenDems @njassemblydems

82% of students agree that if there is free toilet paper in bathrooms, there should be free menstrual products. It’s time for New Jersey to step up. It’s time to pass the Menstrual Equity for All Student Act (A1349) NOW. #EqualityPeriod

Menstruation is a natural bodily function.

There should be no shame or stigma attached to periods or the methods utilized to take care of one’s needs. #RemovePeriodStigma #FreeThePeriod

16% of students have chosen to buy period products over food or clothes. Latinx, rural, low income, and college students are most impacted.  Let’s pass A1349 to show New Jersey students that we care. #EqualityPeriod
