Size G6 hook
This should fit a newborn about 6 or 7 lbs.
row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook and next 4 chs, DC ch 1 DC in next st, DC in next 5 chs,
DC ch 1 DC in next st, DC in next 10 chs, DC ch1 DC in next st, DC in next 5 chs, DC ch1 DC
in next ch, DC in last 5 chs.
rows 2-7: ch 2 turn, DC in each DC, putting DC ch1 DC in each ch1 space.
row 8: Ch 1 turn, sc across to first ch1 sp, sc in space, skip to next sp, sc in space and
each dc across to next sp, sc in sp, skip to next sp, sc in sp and each st across to end.

row 9: ch 2 turn, dc in each st to underarm, put 2dc in each of 2 underarm sts
(the scs that are in the ch2 spaces). dc across, repeat for second underarm, dc to end. Join.
rows 10-21: ch 2, dc around, join.
rows 22-23: ch 1, sc around. join.
Back tab: at end of row 23, join, slip stitch across next 5 sts. Ch2 turn, DC back across 6 sts. (7dc).
rows 2-4: ch2 turn, dc across.
row 5: ch 1 turn, sc across. finish off.
with back facing you, count 21 sts around row 23, join yarn in 22nd st. Ch 2, DC in next 6 sts.(7dc).
rows 2-4: ch 2, turn, dc across.
row 5: ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sts, ch 3, skip 3 sts, sc in last 2 sts. (button hole made). finish off.
Sew button to center of back tab.
Back and Neck trim: join yarn to bottom left back, ch1, sc up left side, 3sc in corner, sc around
neckline, 3 sc in corner, sc in first st. ch 3, sc in same st (buttonhole) sc down right side. Finish off.
