“Mr. Pravin Shah”
As we are all aware, we are facing an unusual circumstance where we still haven’t filled the Board of Director position for the role of the President. Mr. Bhairav Shah has kindly served as an Acting President in the interim period of 120 days which has now ended. As per the constitution, this position is now available and we are looking for nominations from the community. The term for this position can be an interim period of 120 days or the remaining year.
If you are interested in serving the community in this capacity, please contact Mr. Bhairav Shah, at (919) 845-9593 or email@example.com. Note that a nominee must be a Center member in good standing for at least 3 calendar years to be eligible for the position.
Jan and Feb 2018 Monthly Meeting Pictures
January and February monthly meetings pictures can be viewed using the link below. Pics courtesy of Harshadbhai.
Our center participates in Adopt-A-Highway cleanup twice a year. The statewide Adopt-A-Highway program was established in 1988 and is a joint effort between community volunteers and NC Department of Transportation to keep our roads clean. JSCNC adopted a stretch of Highway 54 in Cary between Morrisville Parkway and Airport Boulevard. This stretch is named in honor of Mr. Lalit Banker.
Spring Highway clean-up this year was completed on Saturday April 28th. You can view the pictures from the event by visiting the link below. Thanks to Kamleshbhai, Sejal Nanavati and Sejal Shah for sharing the pics.
Mahavir Jayanti Celebration
Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated at the HSNC Cultural Hall on Sunday April 22nd. With a record turnout of about 475 people, and an accomplished participation in puja and the program, the event was regarded as a success. The army of volunteers, the many sponsors, and the calibre of children, youth and adult performances underscored their hard work and dedication put behind this event.
You can view the pictures from the event by visiting the link below. Thank you Harshadbhai for capturing these moments.

Young Jains of America (YJA) Convention 2018
We sent out an email about YJA Convention 2018 sponsorship opportunities. As a community, it is important we support our youth in these sorts of events as an encouragement of their getting together and meeting other young Jains. Please consider contributing towards this event.
This year's YJA Convention theme, Reconnecting with our Roots, speaks to a powerful idea: it is often important in the rush of everyday life to step back and remember where we came from. To contribute as a sponsor, visit YJA website or contact email@example.com
Feel free to reach out to the following local YJA representatives with any questions.
Pathshala Fees for Calendar Year 2018
JSCNC rents an after-school facility off Morrisville Pkwy., which charges a nominal rental fee for holding these Pathshalas. Based on this and a few other factors, the committee has calculated the Pathshala fees for 2018 to be $75 in total per child.
If you haven’t already sent in your payment, please mail the check to our Treasurer ASAP at the following address:
Please make the check payable to “JSCNC” and write your child(ren)’s name in the memo. For example, "Child1, Child2".
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Please visit http://www.jscnc.org and click Events. The calendar has the most up-to-date listing of all confirmed activities for the year. All the tithis (Lunar Days) are also posted on the online calendar. Here is a list of some key dates:
Food served during monthly meetings and special events has played a vital role in building our community over the years. It has enabled us to spend quality time to learn Jainism and socialize with other fellow Jains without having to worry about our usual lunch/dinner planning that day. In fact it has also served as an incentive to come together and promote our community. This wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and monetary donations from several individuals. We are extremely grateful for their efforts and thank them for their continued contributions. Visit the following link to find more details on these individuals.
Note that as our community has grown over the years, sustaining the food table program has become challenging. We encourage you to help us here by volunteering to serve as a host, volunteering to prepare food or providing monetary donation so that some food items can be catered.
Please contact our food coordinator, Mr. Ajay Shah @ (919) 601-2624 for any questions / details.
