Professional Development Opportunities at ESU #11

December 5, 2017        7-12 Social Studies PLC

February 5, 2018  Keeping it in the Target Language

Participants will practice strategies for maximizing the use of target language in the classroom.  Strategies  will cover both teacher (instruction) & student (discussion) use of the target language.

The workshop will start at 9:00 and conclude at 3:00 (lunch included).

February 14, 2018:    ESU 10 & 11 Career Technical Education Collaboration Day

ESUs 9, 10 and 11 will partner to conduct a Career Field Collaboration Day.  During the course of this day, CTE teachers will have the opportunity to discuss best practices and new ideas regarding state model programs of study, career readiness standards, technology integration, reading and math in the CTE classroom, student personal learning plans, and special populations.  There will also be time devoted for teachers to share strategy examples from their classrooms.  This workshop will be held at ESU 10 in Kearney and begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.

Become a Better Communicator, Graduate Class taught by Kate Hatch

 Course Description:

Being a successful educator is dependent upon the ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers, administrators, and educational stakeholders.  In order to build these positive relationships, one must know how to communicate successfully with a variety of individuals.  This class will use Jim Knight’s book Better Conversations to examine the six beliefs of better conversations, and demonstrate how these beliefs can be incorporated into one’s daily life in order to be a more effective communicator.

February 27, 2018     ESU 11 Art Enrichment Day

Minden art instructor, Chris Dolan, will provide instruction on the art of printmaking.
