Professional Development Opportunities at ESU #11
October 2, 2025: 6-12 ELA PLC
Experts from DMGroup will assist participants work backwards from NDE’s ambitious goals, summative assessments, and standards to align a) literacy curriculum, b) scope and sequence documents, and c) reading materials (e.g., novel studies), as well as develop an approach to progress monitoring. October 6, 2025: ESU 11 Fall Conference at The Tassel and Holdrege High School
This year’s conference is entitled “Making a Difference” and will provide teachers with the opportunity to learn more about the field of education. The day will begin and end with a keynote presentation from nationally renowned speaker, Steve Gilliland. Teachers will also be able to attend a variety of breakout sessions to enhance teaching skills. Session topics will focus on technology integration, special education, coaching, media, art, music, reading, math, science, social studies, and career education. The conference will begin at 8:50 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m.
October 27, 2025: Continuous Improvement Profile Workday
Come to ESU 11 and receive technical assistance as your school team works to update your district’s Continuous Improvement Profile. Kate and Wade will be available to answer all of your questions! October 29, 2025: Strengthening Civic Competency and Skills in All Social Studies Classrooms
This engaging, hands-on workshop is designed to help social studies educators strengthen civic learning in their classrooms—without getting lost in political controversy. Educators will discover how to seamlessly weave civic competencies into their existing curriculum and explore practical, ready-to-use strategies that encourage students to think critically, participate thoughtfully, and become informed, active citizens. January 27, 2026: ESUs 9, 10 and 11 CTE Collaboration Day
ESUs 9, 10 and 11 will partner to conduct a Career Field Collaboration Day. During the course of this day, CTE teachers will have the opportunity to discuss best practices and new ideas regarding state model programs of study, career readiness standards, technology integration, reading and math in the CTE classroom, student personal learning plans, and special populations. There will also be time devoted for teachers to share strategy examples from their classrooms. This workshop will be held at ESU 10 in Kearney and begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m.
February 11, 2026: 6-12 Science PLC Follow-up
Sarah Shaffer from NDE will return with more updates including information on the new teacher guides for science. She will also share real-world lesson examples that align with current best practices. The goal will be to support high-quality science instruction. Teachers will also have an opportunity to collaborate and share ideas.
