Professional Development Opportunities at ESU #11

 

 

September 4, 2018:  Entry Year Workshop #2

During this workshop, mentors and new teachers will have the opportunity to participate in discussions involving minor, moderate, and severe interventions, strategies to establish positive relationships with parents, preparing for parent teacher conferences, and strategies and tactics that can be utilized to ensure successful, nonthreatening conferences.  A variety of online resources including  the ESU 11 website, Learn 360, and free online tools to increase student engagement will also be shared.  This workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m.

September 5, 2018:  Camera Doctor Workshop

ESU #11 is pleased to host The Camera Doctor for a half day workshop on shooting great pictures with your digital cameras. This workshop is open to anyone, but was developed with Digital Applications and Yearbook students/teachers in mind. The following topics will be covered:

·                     The Operation of Your Own Camera

·                     Accessories Available For Your Equipment

·                     Troubleshooting

·                     Care of Cameras and Prints

·                     Lots of Hands-On Training

·                     Handouts and Charts

September 6, 2018:  Blended Learning Cohort Workshop (K-6th Grade Teachers)

Blended Learning helps teachers leverage technology to improve student learning.  It increases personalization and engagement for all students and helps define and measure success for 21st century learners.  During this workshop, you will explore concrete strategies to create a blended learning model that capitalizes on the 4 C’s of 21st century learning.  You will learn how to differentiate using formative assessments to meet the needs of your students.  We will provide you with some direct and guided instruction on how to maximize technology use in the classroom.  Weaving all this together creates student-centered learning opportunities to improve student achievement.  This workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m. You may register for this workshop by going to the ESU #11 website at www.esu11.org and clicking on the Register Here button located on the right side of the ESU home page.

October 29, 2018:  MTSS Training Day 1

Participants learn about the history of Response to Intervention (RtI) and MTSS, and Nebraska definitions are clarified leading to a common, statewide language.  Trainers relay a strong message of, “MTSS is a framework to house the tools you need for continuous improvement, problem solving and decision making.” Problem solving models are shared and schools examine their own.  Participants inventory district or school initiatives leading to discussion of purpose and priorities. November 26, 2018:  7-12 Math PLC

November 29, 2018:  MTSS Training Day 2

Participants learn about different types of data necessary for MTSS Implementation.  They “take stock” of their data sources and sort them by screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, outcome, and implementation.  The next activity in Day 2 is to build an electronic “storage system” in order to make all MTSS resources readily available for staff to immediately access what they need for problem solving at the district, building, classroom, teacher, or individual student levels.  Again at the end of Day 2, participants will develop a MTSS communication plan to discuss next steps with district, school, and community stakeholders. Teams are encouraged to attend.  The team of 4 to 5 may include an administrator (required), 1 to 2 general education teacher(s), a special education teacher, and other staff members you feel would be of value to the team. January 22, 2019:  ESU 10 & 11 Career Technical Education Collaboration Day          

ESUs 9, 10 and 11 will partner to conduct a Career Field Collaboration Day.  During the course of this day, CTE teachers will have the opportunity to discuss best practices and new ideas regarding state model programs of study, career readiness standards, technology integration, reading and math in the CTE classroom, student personal learning plans, and special populations.  There will also be time devoted for teachers to share strategy examples from their classrooms.  This workshop will be held at ESU 10 in Kearney and begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.
