Professional Development Opportunities at ESU #11

August 3, 2017 (9:00 - 11:30 a.m.):  PowerSchool Workshop

This workshop is specifically designed for new teachers in the ESU #11 area.  During the course of the morning, teachers will learn how to take attendance, add assignments, enter student grades, customize grade scales, work with a class roster, submit lunch counts and enter student log entries within the PowerSchool student information system.  This workshop will begin with lunch at  9:00 a.m. and conclude with lunch at 11::30 a.m.  You may register for this workshop by going to the ESU #11 website at www.esu11.org and clicking on the Register Here button located on the right side of the ESU home page.

August 3, 2017: (11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.):   Entry Year Teacher Workshop #1

During this workshop, mentors and new teachers will have the opportunity to participate in discussions involving their district’s policies and procedures, decision-making, what makes quality effective teachers, and proactive management. August 4, 2017:                  New Teacher Marzano Training

August 8, 2017:                        OdysseyWare Workshop

ESU #11 will be hosting an Odysseyware Training on August 8th . The morning session will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m. The morning session is designed for NEW TEACHERS using Odysseyware. Experienced teachers are welcome to arrive around 11:30 a.m. for lunch. The afternoon session will begin at 12:15 p.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m. and is for ALL TEACHERS. September 6, 2017:                   Entry Year Workshop #2

September 7, 2017:                 Camera Doctor Workshop

ESU #11 is pleased to host The Camera Doctor for a half day workshop on shooting great pictures with your digital cameras. This workshop is open to anyone, but was developed with Digital Applications and Yearbook students/teachers in mind. The following topics will be covered:

·           The Basics of Taking Pictures

·           The Operation of Your Own Camera

·           Accessories Available For Your Equipment

·           Troubleshooting

·           Care of Cameras and Prints

·           Lots of Hands-On Training

·           Handouts and Charts

October 2, 2017        ESU 11 Fall Conference:  Refine Learning

This conference is designed to provided teachers with the opportunity to learn more about the field of education.  The day will begin with motivational keynote speaker Dave Weber.  After this address, teachers have the opportunity to select three breakout sessions to attend.   Sessions focus on technology integration, special education, classroom management, media, art, music, reading, math, science, social studies, and career education.

October 2017 BMIT Standards Workshops
New standards for middle level Communication and Information Systems (CIS) and course standards for the Data Science Program of Study will be featured at the six FALL BMIT workshops. Participants will have an opportunity to work with the new CIS standards. Sydney Kobza and Jacqui Garrison of the Nebraska Dept. of Education will facilitate the 9 am to 3 pm workshops that will feature best practice teaching strategies. Lunch will be sponsored by the Nebraska Council on Economic Education. On August 1, online registration will be open.

ESUs 9, 10 and 11 will partner to conduct a Career Field Collaboration Day.  During the course of this day, CTE teachers will have the opportunity to discuss best practices and new ideas regarding state model programs of study, career readiness standards, technology integration, reading and math in the CTE classroom, student personal learning plans, and special populations.  There will also be time devoted for teachers to share strategy examples from their classrooms.  This workshop will be held at ESU 10 in Kearney and begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.
