Choosing Types.— In an Italian garden full of daffodils and blossom hidden behind dull houses off the Finchley road, Mr. de Laszlo, the great painter, surveyed a row of beautiful society women, to choose the right types to represent the overseas countries in the Pageant of Empire. The pageant takes place at Miss Nethersole’s ball on Wednesday.
Wonderful Medley. This is the garden attached to the painter’s studio. You find a white wall with closed green shutters and a plaque of the Madonna and child, press a bell, are ushered in by a Japanese attendant, and find yourself in a medieval Italian hall, tapestry hung.
