Haiku Poems
A Glance at Autumn
The hues of the leaves sit
As the breeze blows around you
The leaves keep falling
A False Reality
Enter. Not knowing.
You live your life through their eyes.
In their world, you live
Lost
At the Lost and Found
Just trying to find yourself
It’s never there. Search.
In that Moment
Fleeting happiness
Can’t we be frozen in time
Living forever
Cinquain Poems
The Other Side
Society
Pressure, unjust
Lying, oppressing, conforming
What you don’t see
Dark
A Somber Evening
And she,
In the quiet,
Went out with a whimper.
And all the light finally died,
In her

Limerick Poems
Do you know yourself?
The old fellow looked across the pond,
The strange little man just wouldn’t respond.
He wondered who it was,
Who’d cause such a fuss
Then realised it was him all along
A Reflection
As the old lady looked in the mirror,
She realised she couldn’t see her!
She stole another glance at the woman at hand,
Then saw the mysterious mirror was blurred
Simile and Metaphor Poems
Simile - The Gentle Cover
The rain is like the light,
Brightening up your day as soon as you see it.
The gentle fall of droplets is like a soft blanket,
Enclosing us in our own corner of the world.
The sound of the soft tapping against the window is like home,
Making us tune out the rest of the world.
Simile - The Thrill
Reading is like escaping,
You forget your own problems and take on someone else’s.
Opening a new book is like an adventure,
Traveling to new lands, new challenges, new knowing your role quite yet.
Flipping through the pages, hanging off each word is like bungee jumping,
You just simply trust that everything will be okay.
Loving reading is like believing in ghosts,
You shouldn’t be so invested in something that’s not real, yet you are.
Metaphor - The Unobtainable Joy
Happiness is uncertain,
No one is guaranteed it.
Joy is waiting for the heart monitor to flatline,
You try to enjoy the time you have left, but it’s only temporary.
Contentment is trying to solve a crossword when there’s no right answer
Knowing it’s never going to be there, but still trying.
Always too Late
Death is an end,
It takes away someone’s life.
Death is the world,
Putting weight on Atlas’ shoulders, as well as ours.
Death is an epiphany,
Only realising what you had when you lose it.
Alliteration Poems
The Lost Lion
Liam loved his lumpy lion
Losing Leo the Lion was like losing his lifeline
So when Leo the Lion left Liam
Liam laughed like a lunatic
Then began looking, looking, looking,
Looking for the loved lion like lost souls look for light
An Intruder
Ants acted accordingly, abandoning all affairs
Over the outline of the otter, the outsider observed
The troublesome tortoise thundered through,
Food forgotten, fearful feet fled fast.
Intelligent insects influenced by interested intruders
Screaming. Silence. Starting over.
Imagery Poems
Devoid of Hope
It looks like the face of defeat in the final moments of death.
It smells like the over-sugary smell that drifts outside as you’re forced to wait while the raging flames trap them inside.
It feels like losing the only thing that you care about.
It sounds like the shots of gunfire in the night as youth and laughter hides.
It tastes like the salty tears that cascaded down her face at the sudden realisation that sometimes there are things you can’t fix.
