POSITION: Estimator / Project Manager

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

SUPERVISES: None

The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties.  It is not all-inclusive.  Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management, as appropriate, may modify this job description.

I.        QUALIFICATIONS

1.        A bachelors degree in related field is preferred.

2.        Must have a minimum of six (6) years in the industrial electrical trade.

3.        Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and bidding software.

4.        Knowledge of the practical application of industrial electrical construction.

5.        Excellent communication skills. (written and verbal).  Professional appearance.

6.        Clean DMV record.

II.        ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.        SAFETY

1.        Adhere to all safety requirements of the task and conditions.

B.        BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

1.        Stay informed about potential opportunities throughout the sales territory.

2.        Qualify potential opportunities for:

•        Project status (Approved, Budget, Budget Estimate)

•        Competitive advantages.

•        Competitive threats.

•        Customer financial capabilities.

3.        Develop contacts with potential/targeted accounts and industries through cold calling, canvassing & networking events.

4.        Perform weekly / monthly follow-ups with established contacts.  

C.        PRODUCTION

1.        Bid a set quota of jobs per month using.

2.        Ensure that jobs are bid to a predetermined profit margin.

3.        Ensure that jobs are completed to the budget set during bidding.

4.        Schedule resources to complete the workload at hand.

5.        Order materials as needed by field personnel.

6.        Measurable values.

•        Is each project manager contacting the customer within 24 hours of new project?

•        Is each service call responder contacting the customer within 24 hours of a call?

D.        QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.        Bid all jobs accurately with no mistakes.

2.        Compete all project related paperwork without mistakes.

E.        CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

1.        Work with customers and direct reports of different personality types to ensure the highest customer satisfaction possible.

POSITION: Foreman

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

SUPERVISES: Journeymen and Apprentice Electricians

The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties.  It is not all-inclusive.  Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management, as appropriate, may modify this job description.

I.        QUALIFICATIONS

1.        Must be a “California State Certified Electrician”

2.        Must have a minimum of six (6) years in the industrial electrical trade.

3.        Knowledge of the practical application of industrial electrical construction.

4.        Excellent communication skills. (written and verbal).  Professional appearance.

5.        Clean DMV record.

II.        ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.        SAFETY

1.        Adhere to all safety requirements of the task and conditions.

2.        Ensure that all subordinates adhere to all safety requirements of the task and conditions.

B.        TECHNICAL

1.        Must be able to bend and thread EMT, Rigid and PVC coated conduit.

2.        Must be able to install switchgear, MCC’s and panels.

3.        Must be able to terminate power and control wiring neatly and accurately.

4.        Must be proficient with:

•        Power and control from 24vdc to 480vac.  

•        Troubleshooting complex control circuits from Motor to PLC I/O.

•        Use of DMM, Megger, Circuit Tracer, and other necessary test equipment.

•        Ability to read and understand Plans, Specifications, Maintenance Manuals, Calibration Procedures and Electrical Schematics.

•        N.E.C.

5.        Must provide the basic tools as listed on the Tool List.

C.        PRODUCTION

1.        Ensure that jobs are completed on budget.

2.        Ensure that jobs are completed on time.

3.        Ensure that direct reports are on task.

4.        Hire/fire employees at the direction of supervisor.

5.        Coordinate ordering and delivery of jobsite materials.

6.        Work with and around other trades.

1.        Ensure that all jobs are completed with top quality.

2.        Develop and implement quality control procedures.

1.        Must be able to move in and around the production area and office.  

2.        Must be able to travel by car, plane and other transportation to visit customers’ sites to analyze needs.  Some sites can have rough terrain, loud noise and extreme heat.

3.        Must have good vision and be able to read small print, see colors, able to read and understand contracts; ability to write proposals and plans, use a computer to communicate via email, to conduct research, and to prepare reports, documents and letters.

4.        Must be able to observe people and work in progress, and watch for moving equipment.

5.        Must be able to hear and communicate via telephone, and in person.

6.        Must be able to communicate verbally to understand customer needs, provide direction, explain

solutions, and present information.

7.        Must be able to work outside in the summer’s heat and winter’s cold.  

8.        Physical requirements also include walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, stretching, reaching and climbing stairs, and lifting up to 100 pounds when observing, diagnosing, designing and evaluating solutions.
