Sadly, over the past year, we have had to remove some of our beautiful trees, as they had become unsafe. To protect and preserve as many trees possible, the District engaged the services of an independent Arborist. The five-year plan has recommendations for preservation of trees and identifies trees for removal. We will begin the removal of trees deemed unsafe immediately. A copy of the plan is available for viewing at the Newcastle School District Office.
Morning supervision does not begin until 7:30 a.m. With student safety in mind, we ask that parents please not drop off students prior to that time.
On Friday you received a letter with exciting news about our renovation project. Just a reminder that construction projects may need to be adjusted for many reasons. The picture attached to the letter is our target. -Mrs. Rush, Superintendent
Have thoughts about Newcastle School programs? We need your input! Please take a few minutes to complete our Programs Survey. Once you have completed the survey, send in a note to the office to let us know you took the survey along with the name(s) of your student(s) and they will be entered to win a prize.
Note from our School Nurse:
If your student has a chronic medical condition or requires medication administration at school and we have not talked this school year (or if you are unsure), please email me at email@example.com. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe at school!
Jennifer Muller, RN, PHN
Homework Lab is a success. However, due to the large numbers of students taking advantage of Homework Lab, we are asking that parents sign their student(s) up in advance so that we know who to expect and are able to staff appropriately. Please help us by reminding your student of the Homework Lab Expectations.
*We understand mornings can be hectic! We are considering adding morning Discovery Club for the 2017-18 school year as an option for parents who need before school childcare. Morning Discovery Club would allow parents to drop students off on campus to Discovery Staff beginning at 7:00 a.m. If you think you MIGHT be interested, please click on the link and we will give you more information as it becomes available. Dogs on campus
Just a reminder, pets are not permitted on school campuses with the exception of properly identified service dogs. Thank you for your support.
Sportsmanship is knowing that it is a game, that we are only as a good as our opponents, and whether you win or lose, to always give 100 percent. I am very proud of the 8th grade boys basketball team. They never let-up and only had one sub in their last game of the season.
Congrats to the 7th grade boys team...they are moving on to round 2 of the tournament.
Reminder, Girls Volleyball... Winter Break is 20th-24th (WE HAVE TWO GAMES THAT WEEK).
Congratulations to Kindergarten student Stormy Cushenbery!!! She is our Super Knight of the Week for exhibiting responsible behavior!
Lost & Found:Please remind your students to check the lost and found. It is overflowing with items. All unclaimed items will be donated over our winter break.
We hope to see you at all of our wonderful events. Have a good evening and Go Knights!
