For over two thousand years, a Roman state has existed. The Empire is finally dying however, as it has been ever since the Greeks took up the mantle from an Italian-made Empire. They have failed their mantle as Romans - now we must take our rightful place, and build a Roman empire once more.
The Empire needs plebeians and patricians of good morals and conscience to protect Italy from foreign invaders and secure Rome against the Ottoman heathens that have risen in Mesopotamia. Come and join the Empire for glory. Lend us your strength and wisdom to help build a new legend.

Religion:
Our forefathers followed the Christian faith under the leadership of the Bishop of Rome. Let us continue to follow in that holiest of Catholic traditions and keep our nation in line with the Pope’s spiritual guidance.
Nation to form:
Already Aragon has set its claws into southern Italy. To free it from foreign hands and protect it once freed, Italy must be unified. A unified Italy will help drive our legions forward and spread safety and security throughout the mediterranean. Once we secure the East and later the West, it shall truly be mare nostrum again when we raise the banners of Rome high again. Rome reborn in a new, stronger glory.
Favored estate:
Estates must be carefully balanced to provide Rome with the best opportunities for growth. Our armies will be invincible, well funded and capable. To achieve this, we can leave no part of our country behind.
Favored faction:
We must ensure that coin comes to Venice and supplies our armies. To this end we must produce as many valuable goods as possible with the help of our guilds. Second to this is ensuring that the merchants of the world know that Venice is a city they can trade in and bring their wares to us. These traders will support our guilds and help us grow the Empire.
Government type:
Our ancestors favored strong leadership, but grew their empire from a republic. To this end, we believe that strong leadership can rebuild the empire, but if a republic serves this goal better, we shall follow the Senate before us.

Diplomacy:
In order to stave off the less civilized folk outside of Italy, we must subtly influence and sooth our neighbors so that they are less prone to take aggressive actions in response to our rebuilding the empire. We must keep the Austrians and French safely at bay by diplomatic means as we begin pushing back the heathen hordes that have overrun the East. To push back these hordes, we will need brave soldiers and keen leaders. Once our flanks are secured through our diplomatic influence, let us take to the offensive and push them back.

Economy:
Corruption should always be combatted to ensure a strong nation capable of spending points without extra cost. Armies should be on low maintenance. If our economy can support it forts all at full maintenance would hurt profits some but would help with army tradition.
Trade:
We should focus on consolidating trade in Venice and moving all trade there.
