2013 ROOKIE DIVISION
IN-HOUSE RULES
- Both teams are to line the field 15 minutes before the start of the game. This includes batter's boxes, 1st and 3rd infield foul lines, and 1st and 3rd outfield foul lines (outfield lines only need to be done on Saturdays, usually just the 1st game). If there is no lime in the sheds, disregard this rule.
- Prior to the beginning of each game, all players will line up on the 1st and 3rd base foul lines (respectively) and recite the Little League Pledge.
- The offensive team will have an adult coach pitch to each batter.
- No bunting. No leading off of bases. No stealing. No sliding into bases.
- Batters must not throw their bats.
- A team may start with 8 players.
- There is no infield fly rule.
- A maximum of 11 players will play the field at one time. The 11th player will take an extra outfield position. All other players will still bat, but not take the field. A player who does not take the field in the previous inning must take the field in the following inning. No player may be on the bench for two consecutive innings.
- The home team shall supply a new ball for the game.
- The game will consist of 6 innings or 2 hours (which ever comes first). The 2-hour time limit begins when the game starts - all games must begin within 15 minutes of their scheduled time. No new inning is to begin 20 minutes before the scheduled start of another game.
- There will be a continuous batting order. No changes will be made once the game starts. Any player arriving late will be placed at the end of the batting order, regardless of the inning.
- There is no on deck circle. The on deck batter will wear a helmet but will not have a bat in his hands until he is up to the batter's box.
- The offensive team will send up the complete lineup each inning unless the defensive team gets 3 outs before all offensive players bat, then the inning will be over. A team may cut short the opposing team’s batting turn by making 3 outs a maximum of two innings per game.
- Each batter will get 5 strikes. After 5 strikes the batter will be called out. No batting tee will be permitted.
- When the offensive team's last batter comes to the plate, it will be treated as if there were 2 outs. The offensive manager will inform the defensive manager that this is the last batter of the order.
- On overthrows to first base - the runner shall remain at first base.
- Every player will play a different defensive position every 2 innings.
- The coaches will make sure that the catcher has enough clearance from the batter.
- All male players must wear a cup.
The use of tobacco and alcoholic beverages in any form is prohibited on the playing field, benches or dugouts.
