Downloading the Application

Installing Java

  1. If you don’t already have Java installed on your computer, you can download it from here: https://www.java.com/en/download/
  2. Run the though the JAVA installation as you would with any other application.  
  3. Keep an eye on bloatware that Oracle adds to their installation package.

Installing M6 Admin

  1. Navigate your browser to http://207.34.32.105/admin/admin.jnlp/ 
  2. This will download the Java Network Launch Protocol (jnlp) file to run the application.

Add M6 Admin Shortcuts

  Click the Windows Button + R to enter the run dialog


  1. Type javaws -viewer and press OK.  this will open up the Java Control Panel
  2. Two Windows will open up


    And


  3. Right-Click on “M6 Administration” and select “Install Shortcuts” this will put a shortcut on your desktop and in your start menu.  Once complete close the Java cache viewer but don’t close the Java Control Panel.  

Adding a security exception

A security exception is required to allow Java to talk to our database server

  1. In the java control panel, click on the security tab.
  2. Under the Exception Site List section click on “Edit Sites List”


  3. Click Add and in the field provided enter the following:  http://207.34.32.105

  1. You will get an error message. Click continue.
     

Run the Application

  1. Locate the M6 Administration icon on your desktop and double click it and you should be prompted with a login page.  Enter the login details provided to you by PressONE.

Fixing Java after Update

  1. Navigate to the following directory → C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_141\lib\security ***Note that your jre version and consequently, the folder name might be different)
  2. Open the “java.security” file on the local machine.
  3. find the line that says “jdk.jar.disabledAlgorithms=MD2, MD5, RSA keySize < 1024”
  4. Change that line to “jdk.jar.disabledAlgorithms=MD2, RSA keySize < 1024”

Note -- if you can’t edit the file with notepad, you will have to click start → type notepad, when the icon for the notepad.exe displays, right-click on it, and run as administrator, then open the file from the CTRL+O (open) dialog.
