Mach 30 #EngineerSpeak Hangout May 21, 2015
Discussion Topic: Sprint 1 Stand Up 2
Attending: J, Jeremy, Aaron, Chris
Start: 2205 Eastern
End: 2300ish Eastern
Minutes:
- <quick summary for Chris of what he missed: sprint planning, week>
- Planning document with PBI’s (PBI’s in this document underlined)
- What we did
- Aaron - completed part 2 (research) of the EC Review Form (YVN-1)
- J - created structure for document for YVN-7 in MTK & started drafting; 25% through document.
- Jeremy - did not get started until tonight on work for YVN-7; very little progress this week
- Juli - got blocked on YVN-8 (printer is having issues), worked on resolving block
- Aaron - going to move on to part 3 of YVN-1; needs to know if he should back out the information for part 1 to keep moving…(see blocks)
- J - Will finish precursor work and test cases needed to complete YVN-7 document in MTK
- Jeremy - plan to complete the python port of the JS code for YVN-7
- Juli - will get printer working and get back to printing calibration pieces for YVN-8
- Aaron - doesn’t have enough information published on the project page to continue to fill in the gaps in part 1 of YVN-1
- J - open to working together or separately
- Aaron - would like to work together (need to schedule an outside meeting) and then add that info to the appropriate places in the project wiki
- J - let’s do that then; that will also give us fodder for the project and wiki landing pages
- Juli - YVN-8 - blocked on problems with 3D printer, the hot end is not heating consistently
- Aaron - what kind of hot end is it?
- Juli - E3D
- Aaron - that uses resistive heating element, right?
- Juli - yes
- Aaron - is the element inserted into the hot end?
- Juli - yes, inserted
- Aaron - check
- power connections and thermocouple connections - ensure all crimps, etc are still well made
- check if the heating element is well connected to the brass of the hot end (if not, he saw very strange behaviors with his printer including inconsistent heating) - if this is the problem try gray heatsink compound (not white) until there is good heat transfer. May need to reapply kapton tape to hot end. Note that this will smoke and stink as the volatiles in the heat sink compound boil off.
