Ritual and processing from 7-8:30pm in the sanctuary
Sanctuary doors open at 5pm for individual quiet contemplation
Is your heart hurting? Do you need a place to feel connected? We know many are feeling shock, anger, and grief. Come process your election feelings with your church community. The sanctuary will be open at 5pm today for anyone who would like to come and sit quietly in your sacred space. You can meditate, light a candle, or just have some solo time to reflect. Your ministers will open the ritual at 7pm with meditation, singing, and prayer. Then First Church’s Pastoral Care Associates will lead small group discussions, similar to chalice circles, about how the election has affected people’s hearts. We will close the evening by singing together. Children and youth are welcome for the opening ritual and closing singing, and our Director of Religious Education and Youth Program Coordinator will lead children and youth in their own processing circle.
