Mission Statement of Model Hogwarts
To provide an immersive classroom experience where like-minded
people can learn and explore the Wizarding World.
Preamble
All students, teachers, administrators and other people at Model Hogwarts are expected to adhere to the following Code of Conduct. Administration, teachers, heads of houses, head boys/girls and prefects will enforce these rules to the best of their abilities. We expect cooperation from all participants in order to make Model Hogwarts a safe welcoming environment for everyone.
If you are a victim or witness to a breach of the code of conduct, we want you to feel included and accepted and will do our best to rectify the situation imminently. Please email or PM anyone on the staff to file a complaint.
OOC punishments are meant for OOC offenses, and IC punishments are meant for IC offenses.

School Years and Semesters
The school year is divided into two semesters, the first four weeks and the second six weeks. There will be a one week break in between semesters and a two week break in between school years. Students must pass a minimum of one class a year to “graduate”. Classes will consist of at least eight unique lessons per year, four per semester. Lessons will be thirty minute long interactive events held in our Discord server. Each lesson will be offered on two different days/times, depending on student scheduling.
Grading
You will receive a letter grade for each class at the end of each semester, as follows:
O Outstanding
E Exceeds Expectations
A Acceptable
P Poor
D Dreadful
T Troll
NC No Credit
O, E, and A grades are considered Passing grades, and will allow you to advance to the next course in that subject. P, D, and T are failing grades, and you will need to retake the course.
General Policies
Attendance Policy
Students are required to attend at least four of the lessons offered per class per year. Failure to do so will result in a “NC” (No Credit) grade for the year. Beyond that, each Professor will have their own policies on attendance, and will be responsible for informing you of these policies, assigning possible make-up work, or taking points as they see fit. Students are encouraged to be on time for classes, as late arrival is disruptive to the other participants. Students who arrive in the middle of a semester or school year are responsible for talking to their professors to see how they can make up the missed work.
If a student isn’t on the server for more than a week without providing warning or a reason in advance, the user may be kicked or suspended temporarily, based on the staff’s discretion.
Activities and Clubs
If you are interested in organizing a club or proposing activities, please see your Head of House. Clubs are required to have a charter which outlines the purpose and rules of the club, as well as at least four members' interest in the club.
Existing Clubs:
Hogwarts Herald - the school newspaper
Thaumatology Club - devoted to studying the “science” of magic
Chess Club - a great way to make friends and play chess!
Dueling Club - a way to practice dueling once you’ve read the RP bot guide. Finish off your arch-nemesis, or take on a professor!
Links and Promotions
An administrator must approve links and promotional posts before they are posted. This includes links to other subReddits, fan fiction, fan videos, blogs, vlogs, and stores of any kind.
Canon
It is our intent to stick to canon as much as possible. However, due to the lack of information on some subjects, non-canon material may be used (such as FanFiction or our imaginations). If you feel that a Professor is disregarding or contradicting canon, please bring your concern to the Professor, and if necessary, the Deputy and/or the Headmaster.
The levels of canon (in order) are as follows:
Harry Potter books 1-7
Companion Books
Quidditch Through the Ages
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
The Tales of Beedle the Bard
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Original Screenplay)
Pottermore
J.K. Rowling’s Official Website
Pottermore
Harry Potter Films 1-8 & FBAWTFT
J.K. Rowling’s Twitter, interviews, etc.
Harry Potter Video Games
The Harry Potter Wiki
The Harry Potter Lexicon
Role Play
Role play in encouraged, but not required. There will, however, be some “RP Only” areas. A few notes:
a) Don't be overpowered. You are a first year, and you don't get any special powers without (PM) owling a staff member first. If you're unsure about something, ask!
b) List of banned families (you cannot have these surnames of be directly related to these families as of now) including, but not limited to:
Lestrange
Malfoy
Potter
Weasley
Longbottom
Lovegood
Scamander
Bones
Black
Dumbledore
c) You can't post for other people. If you throw a snowball at someone, you can't write that they throw it back at you. And if you're intending to influence their actions or cause harm, it instantly becomes a duel.
d) Be reasonable? Everyone is here to have fun. Don't take the magic out of someone else's experience. And don't be afraid to ask questions if you're unsure.
Character Powers: (otherwise, refer to the wiki)
A system is a work in progress, for now fill out the special abilities form, https://goo.gl/forms/PgyQszmQruftl3RE2 for anything that seems remotely out of the normal. (Character abilities, special items, etc)
Quidditch
Participation
Good conduct and cooperation is expected of all students and enhances school-sponsored activities. Students who violate school policy while being a member of the Quidditch Team may be subject to discipline, to include removal from the program. This also includes conduct not related to the activity or sport. Students who hold leadership positions within the athletics or activity may also be removed from his or her post and the program for violation of school policy.
Eligibility
In order to maintain eligibility during the current semester, the student must maintain a minimum of two passing grades for the semester. A student who failed to make the grade requirements shall be placed on suspension from the time the grades fall below passing until the beginning of the next semester. While on suspension the athlete may attend practice, compete in games. If, at the end of the suspension period, the student has met the academic requirements above, the student may be reinstated for competition.
