17th April 1924.

Dear Madam,

I am honoured to receive the invitation from the Committee of The Three Arts Club to be the guest of the evening at a Concert to be held on Sunday, May 5th, which it gives me great pleasure to accept.

I assume you will notify me of the place and time of the Concert.

I should be glad if Mrs. de Laszlo may accompany me, as she is very interested in music.

Yours faithfully.

Miss Gertrude Peachey,

The Three Arts Club,

19A Marylebone Road,

N.W.1.

Editorial Notes:

The Three Arts Club was established in 1907/08 in the Strand as the Frances Club, a day club for women working in music, art and drama. Following a move in 1910 to Mecklenburgh Square, the club offered residential accommodation, and was renamed the Three Arts Club after the New York women’s club after which it was modelled. Its move to 19a Marylebone Street followed thereafter. Sir Arthur Pinero (1855-1934), Sir Edward Elgar (1857-1934) and John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) sat on the advisory board. Princess Marie Louise of Schleswig-Holstein (1872-1956) served as President.
