Blizzard: You're better than you think!

Blizzard responded to frequent concerns from individual players that feel that they are not "doing well" in Hearthstone ranked play. They released a blog post and a graphic that breaks down the percentages of ranked players in various ranked levels:

Dalaran Flame card back

The previously-seen "Dalaran Flame" card back is now in the game files. It doesn't seem to be a season reward, but not much is known about it except for its "TeSPA" label, connecting it to the collegiate eSports organization.

Crazy Game Stories

Shatterproof

Hey Angry Chickens!

I was playing my deathrattle priest that I've been using for a couple weeks now, and went up against a control warrior. We both kept at full health until the late game, him with something like 12 armor at one point.

We ended up going into where neither of us had any cards in our deck, and we were taking damage. Since we both were at full health, it was going to essentially be whoever went first (him) that died. He had no more cards, and I had only 1. However, he had a single minion on the board, which was doing enough damage to me, to make me go down faster than him.

It finally got down to the last turn before I would have died from card draw, and I pulled out my 1 card, Alexstrasza, setting my (now 2) health back to 15. He emoted in frustration, I hit "End Turn", and watched him take fatal damage from card draw the next time around.

Hello chickens,

Love your show, after finding it recently I have really gotten back into hearthstone. My question is...

Is there a place on the internet to see a complete schedule of upcoming hearthstone tournaments? I hear about all these awesome tournaments that happened over the last weekend but never seem to hear about them in advanced. When I do hear about them I always seem to have problems finding the schedule of games or can't find were they are being streamed or some other complication. How do I find out about these in advance?

Thanks and keep up the great work!

The issue I wanted to talk about is how women are treated in competitive Hearthstone.  In the most recent Lord of the Arena event hosted by Reynad (Tempo Storm), the shoutcasters had made some very uncomfortable comments about two of the competitors (Hafu and Nadia).  Though within their context they seemed very harmless and in good jest; Kripparian commenting that whenever he would watch a girl stream he would rather watch something else; Rekful saying that Tides should throw his match against Nadia for 'Gril points' and that Trump should do the same against Hafu.

These comments alone are obviously not that big of a the deal, but as Hafu commented in her stream later that night, they were unnecessary and very hurtful to the women participating.  By placing emphasis on Hafu and Nadia being women, the casters had inadvertently trivialized their talent as competitors.  I actually found the comments to be very cringey whilst watching the tournament and this brings up the question of Political Correctness in large competitions.

Though Lord of the Arena may be a smaller tournament, when streams start to attract 40,000+ viewers I think Political Correctness should be taken into greater account.  As Hafu mentioned on her stream, the comments came off as alienating and hurtful even if they were not intended that way.

I think the main issue of the problem is the emphasis the community chooses to place on female gamers.  Rather than seeing them as just another player, commentators feel the need to point that they are women, and that because they are women the male player may feel the need to place a handicap to even the field or simply let them win for 'grill points'.
