Diocese of Youngstown-Child Protection Requirements

Who has to attend the Virtus Training?

St. Paul Parish and School, volunteers are obligated to follow the guidelines mandated by the Diocese of Youngstown regarding volunteers.  These rules apply to anyone over the age of 18 who is involved in volunteering with minors.

What do I have to do to volunteer?

  1. Attend a Virtus Child Protection In-Service.  
  1. This 2-1/2 hour seminar is offered periodically at St. Paul Parish and at other Churches in the Diocese.
  1. Be fingerprinted and have a BCI or FBI Background Check .
  1. St. Paul Parishioners will be fingerprinted that night. All others need to follow their parishes requirements for fingerprinting.

What if the class is full?

Once the class is full we cannot add people.

 

Reasons may include but are not limited:

  1. Size of space
  2. Amount of materials
  3. Person specific classes (boy scouts/staff/vbs)
  4. You can take the class at ANY parish in the Diocese.
