MATC Prep Checklist *MATC
This checklist helps a student prepare to take coursework from MATC.
- Review basic math concepts using calculator
- Know basic word processing skills
- Recommend typing speed/accuracy of at least 30+ wpm
- Decide if MATC is right for you
- Review your transition goals
- Discuss attending MATC with coach
- Research MATC programs online
- Take a tour of MATC to learn about their programs
- Complete online application before you test at http://mlatc.edu/testing/
- Pass Career Ready Assessment (entrance tests) at level 3, 4 or 5
- Test is free and takes about 1 hour
- Contact the MATC Testing Center for additional information
- If needed, review assigned study material and retake tests
- Select the degree/certification program you want

- Review course requirements (length of program, cost, outcomes)
- Check needed requirements (HS diploma, GED or higher math score is required for some.)
- Decide on target date to begin classes
- Find out when new classes start for your program
- Find a way to pay for your program
- Budget and save for tuition and expenses
- Research financial aid possibilities (PELL, Loan, FAFSA, Voc Rehab, etc.)
- Visit MATC’s financial aid office with a team member to review options
- See if you qualify for help from Voc Rehab
- Apply for Utah residency (if needed)
- If applying for Federal Aid, visit web site: http//fafsa.ed.gov
- Must have HS diploma or GED to apply for Federal Financial Aid
- Apply for financial aid (PELL, Loan, FAFSA, Voc Rehab, etc.) before deadline
- Get appropriate application/s
- Fill out appropriate application completely and submit.
- Find out repayment terms before accepting aid
- Go to Student Portal to enter info & create your student account and login for registration, to access academic info, & to make payments
- Write down your student ID & password for login later
- Students enrolling in Open Entry/Open Exit programs must meet with career counselor to discuss program & sign a Training Agreement form
- Pay tuition when you register
- Discuss any needed accommodations with team
- Plan & schedule time for classes, assignments and work
- Log In to access reports such as academic progress, schedule, etc.
