Sixth Grade Homework Policy

 “Students cannot achieve their maximum potential if learning activities are limited to the hours spent in the regular classroom. Student learning can be enhanced through a partnership with the teacher, the student, and the parent. Appropriate homework can be an excellent means of communication with parents concerning the students' learning activities. It is also hoped that parents will support this partnership by showing an interest in the student’s work and encouraging the student to set aside a specific time each evening for completing assignments.”

 To enhance the quality of your child’s education, homework assignments will be periodically collected and/or scored by the classroom teacher.

• If two assignments are missed per marking period, per class, the student will be assigned one lunch detention.
• An after-school detention will be assigned for each additional missing assignment after the issued lunch detention.
• After five missing assignments per class, the student and parent will meet with the sixth-grade team, Mrs. Hankinson, and Mr. Feathers to discuss an academic improvement plan.
