Year 11 November Mocks - Media Guidance

You will not have a mock exam for Media in November 2024. Instead you will use the Media exam session in the mock timetable to work on coursework that is due before Christmas. This is because Media is a BTEC course (equivalent to a GCSE) that is assessed through a series of large coursework modules that run across both years of the course:

  1. Year 10, Christmas to Easter:

`        Component 2 - Creating a Media Product - 30% of final grade

  1. Year 11, September to Christmas (what you are working on now):

Component 1 - Understanding Media Products - 30% of final grade

  1. Year 11, Christmas to June:

Component 3 - Creating a Media Product in Response to a Brief - 40% of final grade

Your current module (Component 1) will mostly be completed during normal lesson time. However, you will use the Media exam scheduled during the November mocks to complete a specific section of this coursework. This will be explained in lessons.

Component 1 is a theory module with no practical filmmaking. The assessment paper for this module is online here. You should already have a copy of this in your exercise book.

In March 2025 you will have a mock exam. This will be to prepare you for the practical filmmaking assessment within Component 3.
