Value Focus for next week: Quality / Respect

From The Principal

Kia ora tatou katoa, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Bula vi naka, Kia orana Nga mihi nui ki a koutou, Namaste, Nihao, greetings to you all.

Welcome to our new families to Elm Park School. Room 3  is almost full so we will be starting a new class in Room 6 to accommodate all our new children starting this term.  We will be welcoming Ms Michelle Lennon to our staff.

Sports:  Our children have been involved in numerous sporting activities and having a great experience. We do not always win but it is about the participation. Thank you to all our parents who support their children by coming along to the various games. Some Edgewater College students have been working with our Year 6 students this week, which has been a great opportunity for everyone.

Inquiry: Our community Inquiry is proving to be a great success across all levels of the school with the children being involved with trips and activities. We look forward to sharing our work with you all in term 3.  Please check with the office to ensure that you have paid for the trips and activities as we don’t want anyone to miss out on these valuable experiences.

E-portfolios: The children and teachers have been working many long hours on these on-line

e-portfolios consisting of blogs and sites to upload their learning evidence. The teachers have made many comments on them too. We would love parents, whanau to write some positive comments on these if you are able to.

Road Crossing: Please remind your children to take care when crossing the roads around the school and encourage them to use the pedestrian crossings where possible. Recently there has been several near misses between traffic and our children. Thank you for your co-operation.

Have a lovely weekend.

Principal

This Week in Review

Road Crossing Safety - On Thursday 5 June one of our children had a very near miss on the pedestrian crossing on Cascades Road.  A car stopped for the children to cross. The child ran across the road into an oncoming car.  The driver of this car had no chance to see the child.  It was a very near miss.  If you have a child that crosses any road on the way to school please take the time this weekend to remind them about safe crossing.   And to all drivers please remember how unpredictable children can be and keep a look out for them as they walk to school.

Looking Ahead

Photolife Studios - A reminder that we have photos on Tuesday 10th June.  Please ensure your money is in by Monday.  Sibling envelopes are available from the office.   We love seeing class photos of well presented, correctly uniformed children.

HOMESTAY FAMILIES WANTED - Would you be interested in making $1780 in 3 and a half weeks?

We are looking for Homestay families (English must be your first language) who are able to host two Korean girls or boys (11/12 years old) who can share a room.

They arrive on Saturday 26th July – and start at Elm Park School on Monday 28th.

They stay at school each day until 5pm.

On Saturdays they have organised activities so just need to be dropped and fetched at Elm Park.

Their last night with you would be Wednesday 20th August.

We give you lots of support and don’t just drop you in the deep end.

If you think you might be able to take them, or have any questions, please call me at school on 5770196 or email me at katherine@elmpark.school.nz
