This initial itinerary is a sample itinerary and does not reflect any academic program. ARAMFO offers its travel courses to all fields of study. Therefore, our initial itineraries serve as a reference for the types of activates and locations available in the region. All customizations for academic programs are made on a case by case basis.
Arrival in Sri Lanka and transfer to Anuradhapura
Check in at hotel
Founded in the 4th century B.C.m a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1982. Anuradhapura has the largest number of ancient monuments of the great Sinhala civilization which flourished in this region.
After breakfast, we will go to Habarana, a small village with excellent hotel accommodation, a central location for all the ancient city sites.
Upon arrival in Habarana, check into a holiday resort. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.
After breakfast, leave for Sigiriya.
Drive back to hotel in Habarana
After breakfast, drive to Kandy. En route you will visit a spice garden in Matale.
Kandy, the bustling hill country capital is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is famous for the pink painted Temple of the Tooth which houses the most sacred religious relic, the tooth of the Buddha, the Kandy Lake built in 1807 which is an attractive centerpiece to the town.
Upon arrival in Kandy, check into a hotel.
After rest & relaxation, visit the sacred Temple of Tooth Relic. Monks conduct daily worship in the inner chamber of the temple. Rituals are performed three times daily: at dawn, at noon and in the evenings. On Wednesdays there is a symbolic bathing of the Sacred Relic with an herbal preparation made from scented water and fragrant flowers. This holy water is believed to contain healing powers and is distributed among those present.
At night, you will enjoy the Kandyan Cultural show at the Kandyan Arts & Cultural Centre. The show features the graceful and rhythmic dancers and drummers culminating in an impressive fire walking display.
After the breakfast leave for Pinnawala and visit the Elephant orphanage.
Afterwards, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, where a rare collection of tropical exotic and indigenous flora including the famous Orchid House could be viewed. Royal Botanical Gardens attracts 2 million visitors annually. The Garden boasts of more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it is the National Herbarium.
Drive back to Kandy.
After breakfast, we will spend a couple of hours at leisure.
Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, check into hotel.
Continue our tour to Nuwara Eliya.
After breakfast, we will leave for Kithulgala.
A small town perched on the hills that slope down to the flowing waters of the Kelani River. The main attractions include white water rafting; trekking and the Kelani Forest Reserve a popular bird watching location.
Upon arrival, check into hotel.
In the afternoon make your way to the Kelani River and enjoy a thrilling Time of White Water Rafting.
After breakfast, we will drive to Negombo. Upon arrival in Negombo, check into hotel.
Relax your mind with the Golden sandy beaches in Sri Lanka. Spend the day at leisure watching the waves as they bounce off the sun-kissed sands.
