The team was represented at Cambridge by Amrita, Abhinav and the two Ishitas , and their trip was sponsored by our institute. The team was mentored by our M.Tech student Mr Yogesh Baba and the project was supervised by Dr Amitabha Bandyopadhyay. The work carried out by the project student Mr Deepak Bushan and the PhD student Mr Ankur Gupta of Prof Ashok Kumar's group has received the Bronze Award at the 16th EFORT Congress held at Prague last week. This annual conference is being organized by the European federation of National Associates of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT). This was a collaborative work between IIT Kanpur, Lund University Hospital (Sweden), Copenhagen University Hospital (Denmark), and Oxford University Hospital (UK). The titles of these two volumes are “Membrane Proteins: Production and Functional Characterization” and “Membrane Proteins: Engineering, Purification and Crystallization”. This award, given by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is to identify and nurture outstanding young scientists with innovative ideas and desire to pursue research in frontier areas of biotechnology. The award comes with a fellowship and a research grant for three years. The awardees this year include Dr B. Anand, who did his PhD in BSBE and currently a faculty member at IIT Guwahati. Dr Jayanadharan G. Rao received IYBA in 2011. His fellowship was upgraded to "Senior IYBA" last year and the funding was extended up to 2017. Well-done BSBE!
