2014 Elementary School FLL Rookie Grant Application Procedure

The FIRST in Michigan Elementary School FLL Rookie Grants are made possible by the generous support of General Motors.  The grant amount is $300.  These are reimbursement grants. 

Teams can apply for these grants after registering for the 2014 season with FIRST FLL and purchasing their kit of parts. Registration and kit order can be done via the FIRST Lego League Team Information and Management (TIMS) website (https://my.usfirst.org/fll/tims/site.lasso).  (Note:  You will not be able to purchase your kit until you have completed the registration process.)

The FIRST in Michigan Elementary School FLL Rookie Grant amount is $300.  The first 100 teams that apply and meet the criteria will be approved.  Once approved, teams will receive a single check for $300 from FIRST in Michigan.

FIRST in Michigan criteria:

  1. WHO MAY APPLY:
  1. Any rookie Michigan FLL team comprised of elementary school aged team members from Michigan may apply for  this grant.
  2. Multiple teams from one school/organization:
  1. If your school/organization did not participate in the last two years, each of the teams you register this season may apply for a grant.
  2. If your school/organization participated in FLL in the last two seasons, and the number of registered teams from your school/organization this season will exceed the highest number of teams registered in either of the last two seasons - the additional teams may each apply for a grant. 

  1. WHEN TO APPLY:  
     All of the following must have occurred before an application can be submitted:
  1. The team is registered for the 2014 season on the FIRST Lego League Team Information and Management (TIMS) website (https://my.usfirst.org/fll/tims/site.lasso).
  2. The team has a permanent team number. Applications with temporary team numbers will not be processed.
  3. The team has purchased its kit of parts, and received a proof of purchase confirmation/receipt by email, and has forwarded the confirmation/receipt email to michiganfll@gmail.com along with the team’s permanent team number.

  1. TERMS OF THE GRANT:

Any team that receives a grant is required to build a robot from the kit of parts and participate in one official FIRST in Michigan FLL Qualifier Event during November or December.  If the team fails to comply, they must return their full kit to FIRST in Michigan or reimburse FIRST in Michigan the full amount of the grant.  Clicking “YES” on the grant form under the TERMS of the GRANT signifies the team’s full acceptance of the terms.

  1. TIMING:

Teams approved for grants will receive a check as soon as completion of team registration is verified and kit of parts proof of purchase is received.

  1. To apply for the FIRST in Michigan 2014 Elementary School FLL Rookie Grant, complete the 2014 FLL Grant Application form.
