Content Specific Language:
Addition Property of Inequality - For all real numbers a, b, and c: If x<a, then x+b<a+b. If x<a, then x−c<a−c.
Algebraic inequality - A mathematical sentence connecting an expression to a value, a variable, or another expression with an inequality sign.
Division Property of Inequality - For all real positive numbers a, b, and c: If x < a, then x÷(c) < a÷(c). If x > a, then x÷(c) > a÷(c).
Function - A function is when one variable or term depends on another according to a rule.
Inequality Signs - Listed are the most common inequality signs: “greater than”, “greater than or equal to”, “less than or equal to”, < “less than”, “not equal to”
Input-Output Table - A table that shows how a value changes according to a rule is called an input-output table.
Linear Function - When the graph of a linear function forms a straight line, it is called a linear function.
Multiplication Property of Inequality - For all real positive numbers a, b, and c: If x < a, then x(c) < a(c). If x > a, then x(c) > a(c).
Pattern - A pattern is a series of pictures, numbers or other symbols that repeats in some way according to rule.
Solution - The solution to an equation or inequality is the value (or multiple values) that make the equation or inequality true.
