SideSpace Privacy Policy

The short version

SideSpace does not collect anything. There is no account to create, no server we run, and no
analytics. Everything the app holds stays on your iPhone.

What stays on your device

• Web sessions. Each Space keeps its own cookies and sign-ins in an isolated store
  provided by iOS. They stay on the device and are never transmitted to us.
• Notes, photos and videos. Stored inside the app's own storage on your device. Photos and
  videos taken with the in-app camera are saved into the Space, not into your Photos library.
• Your Spaces, their names, icons and settings. On the device.
• Your Space passcode, if you set one, is stored as a salted hash in the iOS Keychain. It
  is never stored in a form that could be read back, and it never leaves the device.

What leaves your device

Two things, neither of which involves us:

• The websites you visit inside a Space. Traffic goes straight from your iPhone to those
  sites. They see what they would see if you used Safari, and their own privacy policies
  apply. We are not a party to it.
• App icons. When you add a web app, your device fetches that service's icon from that
  service's own website, the same way Safari fetches a favicon. The icon is then cached on
  your device and not fetched again.

Permissions, and when they are asked for

• Camera and microphone — only when you use the in-app camera. Captured photos and video
  go into the Space you were in, never into your Photos library.
• Photo library — only when you tap "Add Recent Photos". If you never use that feature,
  you are never asked. Access is used to list recent photos so you can import them, and to
  delete an imported photo from the library if you choose that. iOS always asks you to confirm
  a deletion itself.
• Face ID — only to unlock private Spaces. Face ID data never leaves Apple's Secure
  Enclave and is not available to us.

Backups

Exporting a backup writes a file to wherever you send it. That file is not encrypted, so treat
it like any other file holding your notes and photos. It does not contain your web
sign-ins — iOS provides no way for an app to read those out.

Children

SideSpace is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
