The present drawing was made and given to the sitter as a New Year present in 1927 shortly after de László had completed his second three-quarter-length portrait of Emma’s husband, Baron Bruno von Schröder [6976]. The head is in an identical pose to that in the three-quarter-length portrait that de László had painted of Baroness Schröder seventeen years earlier [6942].
