Announcements for Aley

September 14, 2025

Family Fun Event - Michael’s House will host a Family Fun Event on Sunday, September 14 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 1016 Rainbow Road in Fairborn. This free event features a fire truck, balloons, super heroes, ice cream, raffle baskets, and more!  Note: this is not hosted by Aley UMC - just supported.

Family Day Camp - Make plans now to join us September 20, 9:30am-4pm at Camp Lebanon for a family day camp! We’ve got lots of activity and fun planned - think team building, zip lining, fishing, hiking, campfire dinner, and all-around fun! Parents and kids, grandparents and grandchildren, parent-like figures and kids - whatever form of family, come hang out at camp! Sign up on the Get Involved  page or RSVP here so we can properly prepare, and if you're able to help provide lunch please sign up to let us know what you'll be bringing (please bring enough for everyone or let us know how much you plan to bring). Even if you're only able to attend for part of the day, still come and enjoy time together (please just leave a comment letting us know what part of the day you'll be there).

Care Partner Luncheon - Do you ever wonder what Caring Ministries can do for you? Do you want to learn about other volunteer opportunities within the church community? Do you like free lunch? Join us Sunday, September 21, at 11:45 am to meet the Care Partners and learn about what they do and explore other volunteer opportunities while enjoying food and fellowship.  Sign up on the Get Involved page. See you there!

Knitters and Crocheters will meet on September 23 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in room 208. All ages and skill levels are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult). Bring a hook or needles and yarn to work on a project you have started, or to learn what to do with them!  Call Tracey McKibben at (215) 718-9658 for more information.  We meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month.

Aley to Serve Luncheon at St. Paul UMC - Once again Aley has the opportunity to serve a hearty luncheon to those in need.  We will prepare to serve around 150 people at St. Paul UMC on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.  Our menu will be goulash, green beans, Jell-O salad, rolls, and Texas sheet cake or brownies.  We need donations of food along with drinks, paper products, and supplies.  Sign up on the Get Involved page.  Please consider helping with this worthwhile endeavor. Please have your items to the church before 10:00 am on September 30th.  Any questions, please call Susan Lehneis at 937-426-6255 or Bonnie Essex at 937-374-3099.

Feed the Creek - Now that the schools are back in session, Feed the Creek is in need of food items to send home with students who might otherwise not have enough to eat over the weekends. Anything that doesn't require refrigeration is acceptable. If we can't use it for the weekend meals, we'll put it out in our pantry at the edge of our parking lot. If you'd prefer to sponsor a child instead, it's $35.00/month or $420.00 for the whole year.  Please make your check payable to Feed the Creek and send it to 3392 Sunnyside Drive, Beavercreek, OH 45432, or go to the website http://www.feedthecreek.org. For more info, please contact Bill Noble at nobledesoto@ameritech.net or 937-681-8601. Thank you.

One Mission; Two Opportunities to Serve - Let’s continue the spirit of Aley’s recent partnering with Red Bird Mission, this time even closer to home.  We will reconnect with Habitat for Humanity, this time in Dayton at the ReStore, and in New Carlisle at a new home build. Aley will be at ReStore on October 1 and October 2.  Hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a break for lunch.  On October 3 and October 4, Aley will be in New Carlisle working on a house for Charlotte, a local restaurant manager, and her 3 children, Makayla, Christopher, and Aliya. Hours are 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with a break for lunch.  Reserve your time to serve God and serve people while enjoying the company of your fellow Aleyans at https://vhub.at/AleyUnitedMethodistChurchvolunteers. You must sign up through this site in order to sign the volunteer waivers. If you have any questions, please contact Beth Collins at bcollohioregn@yahoo.com.

Invitation to Kairos Closing Ceremony for CCI Weekend #12 - On Sunday, October 5, Kairos weekend #12 will have its Closing Ceremony.  Twenty-four residents of Chillicothe Correctional Institution will receive a Certificate of Completion for their Kairos Weekend. More importantly, these residents will be introduced, or reintroduced, to God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. At the closing ceremony some of the 24 residents will be selected to speak about what the Kairos Weekend meant to them.  They’ll do this in front of fellow Kairos Weekend participants, volunteers, previous Kairos Weekend graduates, and others like you from outside the walls. If you’d like to attend the Closing Ceremony, please contact any of the following for information:
