Pier walked along a abandon street of his now deserted hometown. He was the only survivor from a forest fire that had destroyed the town. Now the only thing left were ashes that blew in the wind stinging Pier’s sea green eyes, and pots that scattered the ground throughout the rubble of destroyed houses.
Pier’s cheeks and eyes were smudged from soot after crying when he found his only sister,August, dead among the wreckage of their house. His dirty blond hair was almost black from the ashes and his hands and feet were badly burned. Not to mention his brand new sweatshirt, t-shirt and jeans were tattered.
The only thing that he could think of was his sister, which he had just buried in the graveyard that used to be about 3 blocks from his house. He almost cried when he thought of her and couldn’t bare thinking about his parents either because they had died a few years before the fire. That meant he was alone without his only sister or parents. He was a orphan.Pier’s mother died in childbirth when he was born, he had had a twin but she died soon after she was born.
Pier walked down another abandon street with a post that still read Oak Drive, that meant he was heading down to the deserted beach to look for sunlight coming through the blackened clouds and hitting the now silent waters of the California coast.
As he walked down the rocky path he heard a baby cry from somewhere in the distance. Then he heard it again but quieter this time. Maybe it just my mind playing tricks on me,Pier thought to himself as he walked back up the path to see if it got louder when he went up the hill. It cried louder then stopped. There by a dead bush was a baby that looked like it had been wrapped in what he thought was a pink blanket. As Pier got closer to the baby it started to laugh and smile. Immediately Pier picked up the baby gently feeling the warmth of the baby against his fridge, stingy body.
“ I think I’ll take care of you.” He told the baby
“ Yew you stink, but you need food more.”
He ran down to the beach to wash and dry the baby blanket so the baby didn’t inhale any ashes from the blanket. After he finished the blanket looked like it was pink but it was still hard to tell from it being tattered.
“You need food!” Pier Exclaimed
He walked back up the beach and on to the main street to see if he could find some food in one of the wreckages of one of the restaurants. He rummaged for any food that survived. Finally he found some canned peaches but that was all he could he find.
