An important note about registration fees and monthly payment plans:

Dear families,

While we strongly encourage paying for  the short-course season as a whole, we understand that some families may not be able to make a financial commitment of this magnitude.

We define Short Course Season as the first day of practice in September through the highest level of Championship meet achieved.

We have three options available:

  1. Pay for the entire short course season up front.  This saves you $70 per swimmer!
  2. Pay for the short course season as two payments.  The first payment is due along with registration and USA Swimming fees and the second is due December 1.  This saves you $20 per swimmer.
  3. Monthly installment plan.  This plan is broken up into 6 installments. When you register, you must pay your registration and USA Swimming fees.  The next six installments are due on the 1st of each month.  To spread out registration fees/payments at the beginning of the season, please register as soon as possible so your first monthly installment will occur on September 1.

Please Note: The monthly installment plan allows you to spread out your cost over six payments-the first of which is due September 1 and the last of which is due February 1). If you register after September 1 and choose the monthly installment plan, you are still responsible for all installments.  Usually this means your October installment will be double.

Early Bird Registration: Returning families will receive 50% off registration fees if registering by July 31st.

New for 2017-2018: Registration for competitive team is due August 31..  Families registering for swim team after September 1st will be assessed a $25 late fee. This allows our coaching staff ample opportunity to start the season out on the right “fin” (Foot).

As always, installments payments and other accumulated fees are due each month between the 1st and are considered late on the 5th of the month.   We require that you keep a credit or debit card on file and your card will automatically be charged as assessed on the first of the month. You can login to your team unify account at any time to see your projected payment for the upcoming month and how they breakdown.

We ask that you please plan to register before September 1st to avoid any late fees.

We look forward to another great swim season!

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors

Mini Meets

Mini Meets are FREE for competitive team members

Level Prerequisites

Bronze

This group continues to develop technique in the four competitive strokes, starts, and turns. Training for competition is introduced at this level.

Swimmers in this level are encouraged to participate in our mini-meets! These are fun, in-house “meets” that give swimmers a chance to show-off their improved skills to parents and family members as well as try out new events without fear of disqualification.

Swimmers in this group should be able to freestyle and backstroke legally, have base knowledge of butterfly and breaststroke, dive from the side or block and have basic knowledge of a flip turn.

Silver

This group focuses on refining technique in the four strokes, starts and turns. Training for competition is incorporated daily.

Swimmers in this level are encouraged to participate in our mini-meets to set the example for our younger swimmers. Also, these meets are a great way to practice racing!! Your body doesn't know how to race unless you practice it so come have some racing fun!

Prior competitive experience is required.  Additionally, swimmers must be able to complete a legal 200-yard IM and at least 100 yards of two strokes legally.

Gold

This group is by coach approval only.  Previous year in Gold group does not mean swimmer is automatically participating in the gold group..

Swimmers in this level may feel they have “outgrown” our mini-meets. We encourage swimmers at this level to come to the mini-meets and help RUN the meets.

Prior competitive experience is required.  Swimmers must be able to complete a legal 400 IM and 10x100 Freestyle on 1:35.

Pre/Post HS Season

This group is for swimmers who HAVE school sponsored swim teams (South Range, Canfield,  etc).  Swimmers in this level want to train and compete USA Swimming before and after high school season is over.  Minimum of 6 USA Swim meets plus USA Champs is expected.   Swimmers in this group are welcome to join us when their HS teams do not have practices during HS Season as well.

Swimmers in this level may feel they have “outgrown” our mini-meets. We encourage swimmers at this level to come to the mini-meets and help RUN the meets.

Service Points

Because we are making an effort to promote swimming greater Youngstown area/local level, we host multiple swim meets.  In order to provide this service for our community, all families that register for the competitive team are required to complete a minimum amount of service points.  There is an option at registration to buy out of your requirement.  If you do not complete your points, you will be billed at the end of the short course season for the points you have remaining.   Hosting meets also helps offset program costs to families.

A family with one swimmer is responsible for 20 service points ($300 value)

A family with two or more swimmers is responsible for 30 service points ($450 value)

Family Discount

Our business model advocates charging the lowest price-point per swimmer, regardless of the number of children you have involved in our program, therefore we do not offer family discounts.  If financial constraints apply to your family, please speak to Coach Caroline or a board member and we will work with you to reach an agreement.

SHORT COURSE Competitive Team Pricing

Swimmers that register for USA swimming are required to attend 6 USA-Swimming sanctioned meets. There are multiple meets in the YOUNGSTOWN AREA this year and we will be hosting 5 USA meets + one HS Invitational.  There are plenty of opportunities for your child to swim locally.

There will be no prorating of competitive team fees. If you start later in the season, the full payment for the season is expected. If your child plays a fall sport, we recommend signing them up and attending as many practices as possible during their fall sport to get the best value. If your child starts out in Rec and moves to competitive, we will credit your fees accordingly.

VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT

Piranha Aquatics counts on its members to volunteer their time to promote unity and to enable the club to thrive by hosting successful events.  For this reason, we require families to acquire a certain level of service points..

Swim meets, fundraisers and other club events have specific jobs that will qualify for Service Points.  Jobs will be posted for each event on the team website and will be available for selection on a first-come, first-serve basis. Some jobs may be restricted to individuals with specific training and/or qualifications, but there is plenty of work to go around. There is a volunteer contract at the end of this document which you may read over.

A family may “buy out” of their Service Point Commitment at the beginning of the season.  If this option is not selected at the time of registration, accounts with insufficient Service Points as of March 1 will be billed $15 per point for any unfulfilled points.  Accounts must be settled prior to the end of the year banquet.

If you feel you would be unavailable to work meets and would like another job instead, please e-mail Coach Caroline. We will gladly work with you to come up with a solution, provided an agreement is reached at the beginning of the season. We will find something you can help out with! Please do not let service points deter you. We will work with you to reach an agreement.

You are required to check a box at registration on our volunteer contract, in which you will agree to the terms listed above.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

If you feel you will need help covering the costs of swim season or you feel your service points need adjusting, please contact Coach Caroline before registration/at the start of the season. The board will work with you as much as possible. We want your child to swim!

Competitive Team Volunteer Commitment

In an effort to bring more local meets to the area, we are hosting multiple USA swim meets this year and 4 HS meets.   We cannot run a swim meet without many volunteers; each meet requires at least 40 volunteers per session (not including officials).

Each family with one swimmer will be required to complete a total of 20 service points ($300 vaue) per short course season. Those with more than one child in the program are required to complete a total of 30 points ($450 value)  It does not matter “who” does the work-it can be family, friends, grandparents, etc. Many families find they can complete the majority of their service points in one meet with help from people they know.

A family may “buyout” service hours for a total of $200.00 (1 swimmer) or $300.00 (two or more swimmers) at the beginning of the season. If this option is not selected at the time of registration, accounts with insufficient service points as of March 1 will be charged at the rate of $15 per point. Accounts must be settled prior to the end of year banquet. This will be automatically billed to the card on file with Team Unify.

At the end of the year banquet the family with the most service hours will be rewarded with a $100 credit towards the following season.  Mini-Meets do not count towards service hours.
