Dános (also known as Dánszentmiklós), south-east of Budapest, was the country estate of Sándor Wekerle, Prime Minister of Hungary 1892-1895. De László was commissioned to paint Wekerle's portrait [111392] during the summer of 1894 and stayed at Dános for some weeks as the Prime Minister's guest. A magazine article of 1893 about Wekerle's manor house and model  farm contains two illustrations, of Wekerle in his garden at Dános and Wekerle and members of his family at Dános, with acknowledgements printed underneath: "After a snapshot by Tibor Weber". Weber may have been a member of Wekerle's staff, who befriended de László during his stay at Dános the following year. He visited de László in London in May 1931[1] and they were photographed together with de László’s friend A.L Baldry [3562].
