Today is the last day to participate in the Vantage School Shirt Design Challenge. All submissions must be turned into Mrs. Knodel in the Media Center by 2:40. If you have questions, see Mr. Unverferth.

Congratulations to the senior Ag and Industrial Power Team of Daniel Sinn and Logan Gerding who took 1st place in the FFA Ag Power Diagnostics contest that was held on Friday!  They advance to the state competition on March 3rd.  Way to go guys!

This Thursday is Program Picture Day.  Any student or staff member who would like to order a group picture of their class should bring the order envelope with payment to school on Thursday.  If you need more envelopes, please see Mrs. Wilhelm

We are also SUGGESTING that you also incorporate an outline of the state of Ohio, as well as a big number “1” in your logo somewhere.  All submissions must be turned into Mrs. Knodel in the Media Center by 2:40 on Monday, February 13.  If you have questions, see Mr. Unverferth.

Lincolnview Students should stop by Student Services and pick up Homecoming Dance Guest Forms. Also,  If you are unable to buy your tickets for the Homecoming dance before Friday, you will be able to purchase them for the pre-sale price of $7.00 for a couple and $4.00 for a single.

Attention all student tour guides - if you've been asked to take your home school yearbook photographer around the building this afternoon, please report to the Commons @ 12:30 pm today.

Congratulations to the following Health Tech students who competed in the HOSA Future Health Professionals competition last Friday:

Mahalia Roberts - 2nd place Medical Terminology

and Ray Escabedo who also did an awesome job!

Cierra and Mahalia qualified for the state competition - Way to Go!!

The 9th Annual Don’t Stress Over the Dress event at the Findlay Village Mall will be March 10th through March 12th. Prom gowns are available in all sizes and styles and some still have tags on them, at no cost to you. Shoes, jewelry and other accessories will also be available. If you have a dress or accessories you would like to donate, the drop off deadline is March 6th. Stop by Student Services for more information.

The 9th Annual Don’t Stress Over the Dress event at the Findlay Village Mall will be March 10th through March 12th. Prom gowns are available in all sizes and styles and some still have tags on them, at no cost to you. Shoes, jewelry and other accessories will also be available. On Wednesday, sophomores from our 13 associate schools will be visiting Vantage Career Center.  Only those Vantage students who have been invited by their program teachers will be in attendance.  If any of our home schools are delayed, Sophomore Day will be postponed until February 8th and all Vantage students are expected to be in attendance on Wednesday.  If this happens, an alert will be sent out and the information will also be on our website, so listen carefully to weather delays Wednesday morning.  If there is no Vantage alert, Sophomore Day is being held as scheduled and only invited students will need to be in attendance.

Ottoville's Homecoming Ceremonies are Friday night, January 27 during the boys basketball game. Ottoville's Homecoming Dance is Saturday, January 28 from 7:00 - 9:30 pm.

The Optimist Club of Van Wert is having it’s annual Oratorical Contest February 19, 2017.  The topic is What the World Gains from Optimism and the winners will receive $300 and advance to the next level to compete for scholarships.   See your English teacher for more information and and application.  Apps are due February 10.

This competition will be held on Saturday, January 21st at the International College and Vet Tech Institute campus in Fort Wayne. Students may take the exam at either 9:00 or 11:15 am. Scholarship awards on January 23rd will total at least $20,000. No pre-registration is required. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Fisher.

Next week is the fall retakes for End of Course Graduation Tests.  Mr. Knott will be handing out testing and tutoring schedules to students at lunch. Only those students who have a testing schedule are required to be here at the normal time of 8:20.  All other Vantage students are expected to report on a 2 hour delay schedule.  Buses will run on the normal schedule, so if you do not have to report until 10:20 you must find your own transportation or otherwise ride the bus arriving at the normal time.  

The Book Fair opens today!  Stop in the Media Center any time throughout the day today and all next week, and browse through books for all ages, magazines, and calendars at 30% off and no tax!  It's a great discount, and a good time to get some Christmas shopping done! 

Any senior girl wishing to be Vantage Career Center’s Peony Queen candidate should see Mrs. Evans and pick up an application by today. Applications to be Vantage’s candidate must be completed and turned into Mrs. Evans by Monday, December 5th. The pageant will be held on April 7, 2017. Over $3000 will be awarded in scholarship money to the winners.

Van Wert Juniors should stop by Student Services and vote for prom theme. Also, Van Wert Students who are interested in trying out for the spring musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, should stop by Student Services for more information.

The Student Ambassadors would like to honor men and women who have served or are currently serving in the US military.  In honor of Veteran's Day this year, we will be selling 4 inch x 6 inch flags during both lunch periods for $1 to create a "Flag Field".  The field will be displayed on the stage until November 10th.  It will be moved outside to the front yard for Veteran's Day, November 11th.  All proceeds will benefit the VW American Legion.  If you have any questions, please see a Student Ambassador.

This week is Banned Books week, which is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read, and the value of free and open access to information.  Stop in the Media Center this week and check out the display of frequently challenged and banned books, You can sign up for the raffle, and answer trivia questions for prizes.

Attn : Antwerp students ~ Tickets are on sale in the AWHS office for Homecoming which is this Sat., Oct. 1st.Tickets are $7 per person or $10 a couple.  Also, if you are taking a past graduate or a date from another school make sure to pick up paperwork in the HS office needs filled out. Ft Jennings Students will be dismissed at 1:55 today for a pep assembly at the high school. Students will be dismissed when an announcement is made and will need to sign out in the front office here and sign in at FJ.

Next Friday afternoon, Sept 9 th is our annual Student Appreciation Day celebration. From 1 – 2:30 pm there will be lots of fun activities going on here…a Car & Truck Show, Cornhole, Climbing Wall, Bungee Run, Wacky Trikes, Music, Wii Dance, a Photo Booth and more!! Of course, there will be pop, popcorn and cookies…and it’s all FREE! If you want to enter your vehicle in the Car & Truck Show, registration begins TODAY on the stage during your lunch period.
