LMS School Improvement Plan Goals 2016-2017

Goal #1:  Improve English Language Arts school wide and for students with disabilities.  (School-Level: For 16-17, LMS will achieve a level 3 TVAAS score or higher in grades 6-8 Reading/Language Arts and maintain or improve percentile rank in terms of the number of students scoring proficient/advanced for students in the SWD subgroup in 6-8 RLA.)

  1.  Provide quality instruction in basic reading skills emphasizing fluency and comprehension, and provide intervention and support to improve achievement and gap closure, especially with students with disabilities.

  2. Provide parapro to work in the RTI setting
  1. Provide ongoing, job-embedded, high quality professional development for all teachers with a focus on best practices.

(For 2016-2017 school year, LMS will achieve a level 3 TVAAS score or higher in grades 6-8 math and maintain or improve percentile rank in terms of the number of students scoring proficient/advanced for students in the SWD subgroup in 6-8 math.)

  1.  Provide quality instruction in basic math skills emphasizing math computation, fluency, and problem solving, and provide intervention and support to improve achievement and gap closure, especially with students with disabilities.

Goal #3:  Decrease the absentee rate by 5%.   (In 2016-17 the Lexington City School System will decrease the chronic absenteeism rate by .5%.)

  1.  Monitor absenteeism and follow district protocol to decrease absences while keeping parents informed and involved.
  1. Monitor absenteeism
  1. Produce and analyze quarterly absenteeism report
  2. Principals will follow district attendance procedures
  3. Parents will be contacted in a timely manner
  4. A plan of action for improvement will be created
