Set Up

1. If you have not already done so, create a folder called CS30 Your Name.  Share that entire folder with your teacher.
2. Create a Google Presentation called Historical Figures in CS.
3. Drag the presentation into your shared folder.
4. Create an appropriate title slide with your name.

The Assignment

Your goal is to profile 5 important people in the history of Computer Science. You will be randomly assigned your 5 people.

The Past - 25 marks

Each slide will be worth 5 marks and must include the following:

• Name
• Picture
• Birth and death dates
• 2-3 sentence description of their contribution.  This may be copied and pasted but it must be specific to that person.  For example, the following is not specific enough: Along with Bill Jobs, DIANE SMITH started the MacinSoft corporation.  However, if you said that DIANE SMITH designed the hardware portion of the first computer created by MacinSoft, that is specific enough.
• Importance to Today: _ out of 5 Stars (or mice, or transistors, or something computery) Create a computer specific starring system that measures their importance to today’s computers
• Explain why you awarded that many stars.  This must be in your own words.

The Future - 5 marks

Imagine it is 20 years from now and imagine you have made an important contribution.  Add one additional slide that contains the same information as the above for YOU.  Remember to be specific.  You might build new smartphone, create a game changing app, or invent some new piece of hardware that is important to a very specific industry.
