Summer 2013 Orientation Assistant

Position Description

Orientation Assistants serve an important role on the Orientation staff by helping in the preparation and planning for Fall Orientation. These staff members will work for 10 hours each week in the Orientation office throughout the summer. During the week of Orientation summer Orientation Assistants work full time. The position runs from May 20, 2013 through August 23, 2013. Additionally, the Orientation Assistants will assist with centrally-coordinated advisement days; leading students to their advisement destinations and providing assistance with course registration. These student leaders have the opportunity to live on campus during the summer, if desired, and are an integral part of the Orientation staff.

Important Things to Know:

* You are allowed to live on campus during the summer, but must work 10 hours a week in Residence Life to receive this housing. If you choose to live on campus but not work in the Residence Life Office, the price for living on campus per week during the summer is approximately $210.

Fall 2013 Orientation Leader

Position Description

Orientation is held for all incoming students during the same week.  We are considering the dates of August 19-23, 2013 for Fall Orientation. All new students (first year and transfer) must participate in an Orientation program. We need your help to make them feel welcome to and comfortable with Buffalo State!

Orientation Leaders serve as a resource to a diverse population of new students and parents attending Orientation programs. Not only are Orientation Leaders responsible for a specific body of knowledge about Buffalo State acquired through training experiences, they must be sincerely interested and skillful in sharing this knowledge with Orientation participants.

Becoming an Orientation Leader is both a unique honor and rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth. Recognized by the college administration and faculty for their worthy assistance, this team of leaders fulfills the mission of Orientation through their strong commitment to aid the students and parents in their adjustments and transition to Buffalo State. As a vital member of this dynamic team, Orientation Leaders enjoy a memorable experience while providing a valuable service to the college.

This position will begin August 5 and will continue through August 25, 2013.
