March 13th

Dear Mr de László,

The dear old Austrian Emperor has delighted to ‘honor’ you.[1] I am sure and your friends from this elevated flat send you ever so many congratulations! I am so glad you have received exalted rank as a recognition and reward – I don’t in the least know how

to address you on your envelope! But you must tell me when we meet. The Court on Friday night was a lovely sight and I wish Lucy had been with me! In the distance I saw the handsome Hungarian attaché I met at your house!

Aufwiedersehen – I want to come and see your studio soo. May I? Perhaps one day next week? Have you finished the picture of the Duchess of Portland [4411]?

Yours very sincerely
