Understanding MYP Grading and Navigating ManageBac
The MYP Coordinator has created several videos to help students and the community understand how grading is implemented in the Middle Years Programme at Meridian. This is an endeavor that we recognize will take time and effort to fully understand. If you still have questions after watching the videos, please contact the MYP Coordinator, Kimberly Ogo at kimberly.ogo@mwschool.org.

Inaccurate Skyward MYP Low Grade Notifications
The default low grade notifications in Skyward are inaccurate for MYP’s 0-8 scale. For example, a 4 out of 8 is being associated with 50%. The MYP 0-8 is NOT converted to a percentage. The percentage for the quarter grades comes from the 1-7 IB scale which will reflect a higher grade than the notification.
To resolve this, you can set the low grade threshold to 25, which would equate to a 2 on the 0-8 scale. Consistent 2s or lower on assignments will result in a failing percentage for the quarter.
However, if you have both MYP and DP students, adjusting the threshold will affect all of your students. That may result in missing failing grade notifications for DP students whose grades are on a different grading scale. In that case, the threshold may stay at a 70 with understanding that for your MYP students, a 4 or higher consistently on assignments will result in a passing percentage for the quarter. The notification alert for such assignment may need to be disregarded.
