Chief of Staff - Thanks for your interest, this role has been filled!

About Pleiades.

We work with mission-driven leaders striving to accelerate climate action and strengthen democracy in order to build a future rooted in equity, justice, and shared prosperity. With a sharp political focus and deep belief in the power of place-based organizing, Pleiades Strategy works independently and with mission-aligned clients to build and execute strategies, develop policy recommendations, and foster new initiatives across sectors to advance ambitious and equitable climate solutions.

About this Position.

In this position, you join a growing energetic, progressive climate start-up with a track record of helping shape and execute new climate initiatives at the intersection of U.S. climate policy and politics.

You will be taking on a leadership role on a team of five to help manage project deliverables and staff, create systems for internal communication and project management, contribute to organizational growth and strategic planning, help deliver special projects for clients, ensure we are meeting compliance obligations, and help hold our team accountable to meeting both internal and client expectations for impact.

You will also support special projects, including helping new initiatives at the intersection of the energy transition and financial system get off the ground. This role can grow into a direct people management role as the team grows. You will also be key in shaping our intentional and emerging team culture.

About You!

You are highly curious, highly organized, and a systems thinker. You have a high emotional intelligence, pay close to details, and are a great communicator. You relish taking a project all the way. You get excited about climate and energy policy and the foundational role that state and local governments play in delivering climate ambition. You have a passion for driving climate action at scale and are excited to help move ambitious climate policy through targeted efforts — and are ready to help grow a team and operational systems to do just that.

Position Requirements:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in managing complex projects, people and external partnerships.
  • You are a systems builder, and can help create and improve the ways we work together as a team and with our clients. You are ready to help support operations, including managing professional services and budgets across projects.
  • Excellence and enthusiasm around project execution. You’re able to produce and help a team produce concrete deliverables in a timely manner and are excited to help grow organizational infrastructure.
  • You hold a deep belief in the power of state and local action on climate and the critical role that democratically elected individuals have in shaping an equitable clean energy transition.

Nice to Haves

  • You love helping others upskill and grow their capacities. You are excited to help build a team, build a supportive culture, motivate people to deliver high quality work, and hold teammates accountable to the work and each other.
  • You are a good writer and editor with the ability to organize, draft, and edit compelling written documents.
  • You have knowledge of legislative and executive policymaking, ideally with a particular focus on clean energy, utility regulation, financial regulation, and climate action at the state and local level.
