Climax-Shelly FFA Membership Information

What is it?

FFA is the largest student-led organization for students in grades 6-12 who have an interest in Agriculture!

What if I do not live on a farm?

You do not need to have a farming/agriculture background to be involved in FFA!

What are the benefits of joining FFA?

Travel, leadership, scholarships, meeting new people, and stepping out of your comfort zone! Chapter FFA meetings are once a month (typically on Wednesday’s) during the high school lunch period.

What are the requirements to become an FFA member?

There are no “set” requirements, but we do ask that you participate. We have monthly chapter meetings during lunch and some events that take place outside of the school. The “dues” to become an official member of FFA is $13.00. The chapter will cover the costs of membership if you commit to participating in meetings, events, and fundraising activities (concessions, selling fruit, etc). FFA members who participate frequently will earn points based on our point system. FFA members that have higher points, will have priority to attend events. (See the point system document for more information.) FFA members that attend events outside of the school will be required to complete a medical waiver in AET. (See Mrs. Kieffer for instructions—if you have not been in FFA before, Mrs. Kieffer will have to create an account for you. Parents/guardians do need to electronically sign this document via email)

What do I have to wear to FFA events?

Blue corduroy FFA jacket (provided), Black closed-toed dress shoes, white collared shirt, FFA tie/scarf, Black dress pants (boys/girls), black socks (boys) Knee-Length Professional pencil skirt (girls), Nylons w/ skirt (Girls) (Girls have the option to wear black dress pants or black knee-length professional skirts)

What if I do not have any professional dress clothes?

Mrs. Kieffer has extra FFA jackets, ties/scarves. She also has a small assortment of white shirts, black skirts, and black dress pants. She cannot guarantee that she will have your exact size, so please plan accordingly!

How do I know when FFA things are coming up?

The bulletin board outside of the Ag shop has information about upcoming FFA events as well as the bulletin board in Mrs. Kieffer’s classroom. We also have an Instagram account: climaxshellyffa_ag and a Facebook page: Climax-Shelly FFA & Ag. Ed. We also will post information on the “FFA” tab on the school website. If not, feel free to reach out to any of the officers or Mrs. Kieffer with questions!
