K-8 Uniform Policy SkyView Academy (SVA) requires every student to wear an approved SVA uniform. Socks (Boys and Girls) and Knee Highs/Tights (Girls only) Additional Options for Grades 6-8 Only PurposeStudents' attire significantly influences the learning environment of any school. The purpose of SVA’s Uniform Policy is to promote school unity and pride, lessen peer pressure, and minimize the distractions and disruptions that some clothing may attract while establishing habits of neatness, good grooming, modesty, and cleanliness. All students are expected to dress appropriately at all times while on school premises or at any school sponsored activity. Enrollment in SVA constitutes acceptance of this Policy, agreement to adhere to it, and acknowledgment of discipline for noncompliance. Overview

Formal UniformFormal Uniform Day is the first Wednesday of every month. The purpose of Formal Uniform Day is to establish an understanding that there are times in life when more formal attire is appropriate. Other days throughout the school year may be designated a Formal Uniform Day as determined by the Administration. Students and families will be notified ahead of time. Administration may vary this at their discretion. For formal uniform day students have the options below: Socks (Boys and Girls) and Knee Highs/Tights/Leggings (Girls only)
ShoesShoes must complement the uniform and have no distracting features, such as blinking lights. Athletic shoes must be worn during P.E. (see class schedule for details). Boots are only allowed during inclement weather or when snow is present BeltsA navy, black, brown or 9A SkyView Plaid belt (9A SkyView Plaid must be purchased from Educational Outfitters or the SVA School Store) must be worn at all times by students in grades 1st – 8th with any item that has belt loops. Belts must have modestly sized buckles and may not have any “bling”, characters, or otherwise distracting elements. Student Grooming
Spirit Wear FridayEach Friday, SkyView students may wear Khaki uniform bottoms, and SkyView Spirit wear of their choice. Examples of SkyView Spirit wear include, but are not limited to, SVA Wish Week Shirts, SVA Choir Shirts, Marathon Challenge T-shirts, SVA Fun Run T-shirts, and MS PE T-shirts. Items Not Allowed
Field Trip UniformThe SVA Field Trip Uniform, for both boys and girls, consists of khaki bottoms with a white long or short sleeve polo shirt. All students attending field trips must wear their SVA Field Trip Uniform unless otherwise directed by SVA Administration. Spirit Wear on FridaysEach week on Friday, PS and ES students may choose to wear SkyView spirit wear (tops with SkyView logos/events printed on them) and uniform bottoms. Dress of Choice Day (DOC)Dress of Choice Day is given the first Friday of each month. DOC demonstrates that there are times when more casual wear is appropriate. Students are able to participate in DOC as long as they participate in Formal Uniform Day on the first Wednesday of the month. Open-toed shoes, wheeled shoes, and any other footwear that compromises safety, as determined by the administration, will not be allowed. Certain clothing items will not be allowed, for example, tank tops, pajama items, shirts with inappropriate language or messages. All clothing should meet length requirements and be in good repair as outlined in this policy. Extreme Styles
ExceptionsOrganizational Uniforms such as Boy Scout and Girl Scout Uniforms may be worn in place of, or in addition to, the SVA Student Uniform. If the Organizational Uniform does not include all clothing elements as required above, (e.g., no specified Organizational Uniform pants/skirt), the applicable SVA Uniform component should be worn with the Organizational Uniform components. Temporary exceptions to the clothing requirements of this policy may be granted by Administration for hardship, as an individual reward, or as part of Dress of Choice day. Exceptions to the clothing requirements of this policy shall not include exceptions to the student grooming standards set forth herein unless expressly authorized by the Administration. Upon request, reasonable accommodations in the Uniform Policy shall be made by Administration for students with disabilities or religious convictions that conflict with the code.
