Becoming a Member of
The Episcopal Church
of Saint Andrew’s
We are a church with fuzzy edges. Jesus ate with anyone and everyone. He took particular pleasure in breaking bread with sinners and the riff-raff to show the breadth and depth of God’s love. So everyone is welcome to receive holy communion at Saint Andrew’s. If you’ve done so, you’re in! The basic mark of membership is worship with us.
If you’re looking for easy, clear-cut answers, you may be disappointed. At Saint Andrew’s, we live with the questions and seek the deeper truths as we journey with Jesus. Membership is more about incorporation into a community than conformity to a creedal formula or adherence to a set of rules. The way of our church is belonging, believing, behaving -- usually in that order.
Feel free to loiter on the edges, and when you’re ready to move along with Jesus and with us, you can consider these steps in any order and at your own pace:
•Filling in the pew card with your name and contact details so that we can keep in touch and create a name tag;
•Attending a bible study, prayer group or Lent course;
•Turning up to Crafty Critters on Tuesday morning or a Men’s Breakfast on the fourth Saturday of the month;
•Coming to Midday Prayer, Monday Meditation or Thursday Eucharist;
•Having your photo taken and included on our wall-mounted Gallery;
•Joining a Foyer Group to share a quarterly meal together;
•Being baptized, confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church (or requesting a letter of transfer from another Episcopal Church);
•Pledging money to St. Andrew’s to fund our ministry and mission;
•Serving as an usher, greeter, reader, intercessor or server on Sunday;
•Providing refreshments after our Sunday services;
•Supporting our mission and outreach by volunteering with the Thrift Shop, Youth Group, Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, Toddlers’ Group or Altar Guild; and
•Filling in a form to qualify as a voting member at the Annual Meeting.
However you’d like to proceed, please be assured of our prayers and best wishes.
